Empfehlenswert

Local Food in vegan. Lieben wir!

Overpriced & Low Quality

We ordered veg fajitas. The presentation was lovely and the vegetables were cooked well. However, the overall quality of the food was very low especially considering the price. For instance the pureed beans were obviously canned and the guacamole was brown and sour like it was turning bad. The hot chocolate was just a cheap mix that wasn't fully stirred (unlikely vegan). My family member could not eat their food as it was such poor quality. In my 6 weeks (this trip) in Costa Rica this was one of the most of the expensive meals and the lowest quality. I got the feeling they are just ripping off tourists here.

Pros: Multiple veg options

Cons: Low quality, High price for the low quality

O vegan casado mais saboroso que comi na Costa Rica!

Espaço pequeno mas acolhedor. Serviço simpático. Porções adequadas. Comida caseira e saborosa.

Affordable and delish

We ordered the vegan casado option with smoothies. The smoothies are fresh and the casado is flavorful!
I appreciate that the vegan options are clearly labeled.
Bring cash because the internet signal slows down the credit card machine here.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options, Fresh Fruit smoothies, Resident orange cat!

Cons: Difficulty paying with credit card

Plenty of vegetables

The burritos were small - fine by me - and the plate was full of delicious vegetables and salad with guacamole, salsa and refried beans. I’m full. The pasta was also plentiful with lots of vegetables. Small place with all tables full.

Second visit. Equally as filling and full of goodness.

Increíbles patacones

Aunque no había tantas opciones veganas, algunos platos podrían hacerse veganos. Los patacones eran increíbles y tenían un sabor fresco. El personal también fue amable y me encantó el ambiente del restaurante. Es un excelente lugar para comer platos tradicionales.

Fantastic Food

Not much choice here other than the vegan casada and luckily the patacones, which were on the specials, but the food was super tasty and the price was very reasonable. Great food and great service. Came here 2 days in a row! 100% recommend.

Yummy food, good portion size

There is only one main dish that’s vegan, the traditional Casado. I really enjoyed it and thought the portion size was good for the price, will eat here again

Solid option, not spectacular

There are some vegetarian and vegan options in the menu. Huge portions. I forgot to take the photo of the food because we had to rush but it was tasty, but not spectacular. You can pay by card and cash. Free WiFi available and the service fee is included in the price.

Decent casado

It's a cheap place with a few tables inside. They seem to have toys / games for kids to play with. The menu is quite extensive, lots of vegetarian options, not that many vegan ones.

I had the vegan casado which was quite nice as it came with avocado but it wasnothing to write home about. My bf's vegetarian quesadilla was huge.

The service fee is already included in the price, so no add-ons at the end. Food was about 5500 colones per person, 2000 colones for a coke. You can pay in either US dollars or colones.

Pros: Nice casado, Cheap, Service fee already included in the price

Basic vegan Casado

Exactly what you expect with a Costa Rican Casado. Nothing to phone home about but it was clean and tasted decent. Not the fanciest meal by any means but some good old fashioned rice and beans. Small family ran shop

Really nice local food

The venue is really cute, has wifi, and labels vegetarian options. I had the quesadilla which was around $8. The quesadillas had cheese and veg in them. You can see them preparing your food as you sit and wait to be served. The mint lemonade is also very delicious as well as sugar cane juice. At this restaurant you are able to pay by card.

Pros: Big portion, Nice venue

Casado

They don’t have many vegan options (just the casado I guess?) but it’s really good! Everything about the dish is perfect and they put avocado in it so it’s the best. The waiter was lovely also and the restaurant very cozy. It gets busy so expect to wait if its full.

Solid food, not many vegan options

The veggie casado (vegan) was good and was really filling. The price is quite fair for the area, especially for the amount of food. There’s a really cute orange cat that lives in the restaurant. The menu has lots of vegetarian options but only a couple that can be made vegan (there’s also a soup and possibly a veggie pasta. I’m not sure about the veggie burger)

Sólo había Cazado vegano

No había mucha comida vegana.

Pros: Vegetarian style, Hamburguesa was so good

Cons: Cash Only

So happy I could try local food

Was really pleased I could try the local rice and beans. There was a serious language barrier so I couldn't work out of there were other options but that's totally on me. The food was fresh and healthy and the service was very friendly. The only sad but was we didn't get any plantain but I wonder if it was cooked in butter?

Pros: Opportunity to try local food, Friendly sevice, Reasonable

Cons: Language barrier for me, Small choice

great find

This place was right next to our bnb. The vegan options are similar to a lot of things in CR with the "typical" casados. But they were tasty! Rice & Beans, plantains, avocado, and a potato stew type dish.

Delicious Traditional Food

The sign on the building says they offer “Best Vegetarian” so of course we had to try it. They didnt disappoint. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. We ordered a casado vegetariano sin queso, and everything was perfect. The owner was very friendly, and I think she was also the chef. Homey feel to the place. Nice cold beer too.

Pros: Vegetarian options are noted on the menu, Ask for no cheese (sin queso) if you are vegan, Delicious, authentic, homemade, fresh

Cons: Owner doesnt speak English, but she provides , useful English-Spanish phrases on the table.
