In famous tourist area in Kobe, an old foreigners colony called Ijinkan has so many Indian restaurants but most of them uses chicken or lamb, this restaurant is completely vegetarian (vegan option available). You can only choose one curry set, ¥ 900 ($9.00) for lunch and ¥1200 ($12.00) for dinner (prices as of 4/2014). Note: In Japan kitchens often stop serving 30-60 minutes before closing time. Call ahead to confirm. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-2:30pm, Tue-Sun 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Difficult to rate - Edit

I told the chef I was vegan and asked which curry I should choose (I'm not a vegan but wanted to know if they can serve vegan food). He recommended me the spinach and cheese curry. I'm not sure he understood veganism. Foods are good, but make sure you clarify what you don't eat.

Good, cheap lunch set in quiet atmosphere - Edit

We went there in hopes of getting a decent Indian lunch and in terms of food, this place does not disappoint. The owner was kind of unfriendly or shy, she did not greet us when we went in and just proceeded to serve us water and then the menu. She did not even speak a word until the first plate. Unfortunately, I therefore did not manage to ask for a vegan version of the food in time (so I don't know if available), but the only animal products I spotted were milk in the chai and maybe the salad dressing.
The food was a lot, but very tasty and they serve extra chapati for free if needed. Absolutely no complaints here.

Cannot agree to the other review calling the place dirty. It was not very fancy (also no background music), but it was definitely clean, especially the bathroom was a nice surprise.

Can recommend overall for an affordable and tasty meal.

Pros: Really good food, Cheap

Cons: Somewhat unfriendly

Home cooking - Edit

Basically a sad story-owner lost his main restaurant in a fire with no insurance...is now running this restaurant out of his spice store. Food is I suspect exactly what the family had for supper. Food was good, totally vegetarian///but ambiance dirty enough to put people off

Pros: good vege food

Cons: place needs dramatically cleaning up
