Enjoyed

Many vegan options, not expensive, large portions, good quality and not overcooked. Had Kung Pao and enjoyed it. Server was frantic but joy to watch

Tofu at its best

During our stay in San Francisco we visited twice and were very happy both times.

The general tsao tofu is out of this world 😍

If you like to have more vegetables order steamed vegetables and the sauce of your choice - most of them are vegan. We tried the black bean sauce which was super delicious.

Also I loved the spring rolls.

And the girl at the counter is doing such a great job and is very friendly.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Good prices

Good food, fast service and good prices

I went for lunch and got the lunch special, which got me a great amount of food, which was also good. My menu included a lot of rice, a soup, a spring roll and a lot of garlic eggplants. Easy place but good and very good value.
The waitress was also very nice: I was about to order what she thought would be too much food for me and saved me 10 bucks.

Pros: Great amount of food, Quick service, Good prices

So many meatless options!

I have lived in surrounding neighborhoods for 6 year and I'm almost ashamed to say I have only just recently tried Kung Food. Totally my loss because the food here is sooo good!

My partner and I have a few different favorites for Chinese joints that offer solid vegan options but Kung Food is our new go-to. Their menu of meatless (faux meat) options is huge and so are the portions. We expected that the meatless options would be similar to other restaurants that have these kinds of menus but the texture and taste far surpassed our expectations.

Prices and speed of service were also spot on too. Lately I've been bummed to try new restaurants for the first time via a takeout experience but for Kung Food it seems like they're already used to doing most of their business this way as the restaurant is pretty small on the inside.

Don't make the same mistake as me. Go here now if you haven't been yet!

Pros: Many meatless options, Large portions

get urself the general tsao

GENERAL TSAO CHICKn! amazing. i ordered one last nite and will be ordering soon before i leave. amazing. so yummy. ate leftovers for breakfsst. guess what. so yummy again. update: i was so gassy hahahaha ate it two days ina row and was sooooo gassy mmmmmm plfp fart hehehehe

update:
so the meatless general tsao has become a staple food when i visit my girl (we’re in a long distance relationship). whenever i land and pull up to her, there is some relatively warm to somewhat cold general tsao waiting for me. i eat it all the time and even tho it makes me mad gassy the flavor is worth it. for the first time ever we dined in last time i was there, and we came to find out the owner? of the place is actually a chinese rapper who i think goes by the name of indochino if i remember correctly. cool discovery.

Decent options

The food is great and affordable! However I wish the lunch special had vegan options for the sides (egg roll and vegetarian soup). I had to forgo those two and have just rice and meatless chicken (which was still good). 4/5 for vegans

Pros: Cheap, Many options

Cons: Lunch special sides can’t be fully vegan

So good! But had to keep asking to make sure it’s vegan

The food is amazing. The meatless “chick’n” tastes great fried (of course), as well as in dishes where it is not fried. I think we had general tsaos meatless “chick’n,” Mongolian “chick’n,” chow mein and fried rice. The portions were large, and the leftovers even tasted good the next day when I ate them cold.

The place is kind of small, probably mostly does take out, since there is a sign that says take out orders may not be eaten there, but there are a good number of tables for those who wish to dine in. It has a nicer hole in the wall feel to it, not fancy at all, but still quite comfortable.

My only complaint is that the vegan options are not marked as such, and are just under the heading: ”meatless.” I ordered a lunch special, which comes with soup and rice and an egg roll. But, the soup of the day had egg, so I just didn’t get that part, the egg roll was swapped for a fried spring roll, and the server asked if I wanted egg in my fried rice after we said that we were vegan. I really liked the food, but I hate having to ask a million questions in different ways just to make sure I’m not getting animal’s bodily matter put into my food. FYI: the fortune cookies also have egg in them, they brought them with the check, and we handed them back to the server.

Pros: Taste, Flavor, Friendly people

Cons: Need to double check each component is vegan
