Cannot recommend highly enough!! Amazing!! - Edit
The food is absolutely delicious and the vibes are immaculate. Generous portion sizes and the staff are so lovely. Would recommend trying the Pad See Ew, the deep fried vegan teriyaki chicken and the BBQ pork buns! The Black Mountain tea is incredible!

great vego restaurant in Southport - Edit
called into Kuan Yin Tea House today to pick up some takeout on the way to Surfers … previous owners were Taiwanese, new owners are Thai … so Thai food features on the menu … I had Thai fried rice and was surprised that it filled the takeaway container to the lid … if you like spicy food just ask … I’ll be back next time I’m on the Gold Coast … public transport close by the restaurant

Huge menu & huge portions - Edit
The staff were super friendly, it’s a nice small business to support.
Read moreChilli wontons were missing the chilli sauce, bacon roll was a unique dish and really tasty, duck lychee curry was very good, and the herb fried chick’n special was massive but a little plain. The dishes are generally very mock meat-heavy.
We’d be keen to come back and try some different dishes, the menu is so big it’s hard to know what they do best ☺️
Pros: great value, tons to choose from, lovely staff
Cons: food seems a little hit and miss

Delicious lunch - Edit
A favourite that we don’t get to often enough due to the distance from home. Today we made it in for lunch and weren’t disappointed.
Read moreWe had the Thai fried rice and the Herb Fried Chicken.
The rice (a regular order for us) was supper tasty with soft and succulent chicken pieces throughout.
The Herb Fried Chicken was delicious, two really tasty dipping sauces and the coating was light and delicate and crispy. Will definitely be ordering it again on another visit.

Very bad vegetarian chinese food - Edit
As a vegetarian chinese, i am immensely disappointed with the food for the following reasons:
Read more1. All food contains chicken (not specified in the menu)
2. Soup is too thick (highly infused with starch flour)
3. Mapo tofu is cooked with frozen vege?
4. All food is tasteless and taste the same.
5. Food doesn't taste like Chinese food at all.

Extremely Disappointing - Edit
Kuan Yin, known as the goddess of mercy made a vow the ease the path to buddhahood for all living beings. However, her tea house in gold coast has proven this to be quite challenging.
Read moreThe vegetarian "chicken" was used in all every single dish that I ordered and had no business being in those dishes. Example, we ordered mapo tofu that came with frozen vege with extra chicken toppings and no promised vegetarian "mince meat".
The bbq pork fried rice came with what do you know, more chicken. Seasoned with extremely generous bottles of pepper.
I'm a Malaysian Chinese vegetarian for context, but this is a sorry excuse for vegetarian Chinese food in general and the high reviews baffle me.

In 2023 Kuan Yin has truly upped its game!

This place is great.
Previously, we had low expectations as dishes were hit and miss. Not anymore! It’s a go-to to feed your vegan Thai & Chinese cuisine cravings.
No garlic or onions used.
