Veganism it's not really a thing here (yet!). But this place is specialized in traditional egipcian koshary which is most of the time vegan. We went for the basic medium option. It's a mixture of rice, cheack-pee, lentils, pasta and caramelized onion, served with vinegar, tomato souse and chill souse. Tasted vegan, however we were unable to confirm with the staff if souses didn't have any additional animal products. If you need a carbs after (or before) long evening in Al Balad, that's the place to go !!
Hi! More often than not, onions are fried with ghee which makes it non-vegan. However, it is safer to omit onions to ensure it is vegan friendly since there is a language barrier. Also, ghee is called sam-naa in Arabic. Could come in handy :)
