Innovation and impressed!

Clean, delicious and innovative dining. Restaurant is at the back of the shop. It is welcoming and delicious my non-vegan friend thoroughly enjoyed trying everything they offer. We both loved it.

Lovely place

The atmosphere here is very calm and the store that is attached had some really cool things!

We had 2 great dishes and one a bit more mediocre (the cold noodles). I would recommend the hericum mushroom curry.

Portions too small for the price

The Tomato Coconut Soup was good, the Roasted Potato and cauliflower was way too small for 32RM

Pros: Soup tasted good, Sauce was different

Cons: No pictures in menu, Very few non-spicy choices, Portions way too small

Went back for more

The food was delicious and we had to go back to try even more!
On our first visit we had the Pumpkin Fritters and the Masaman curry with their Flat bread. Our second visit we had the mushroom Inch Kabin and the Rendang with the juiciest courgettes. Their food really was all delicious. #Veganuary

Pros: Pumpkin fritters, Rendang courgette curry , Masaman curry

Really good

We only took small plates because not so hungry and it was enough for us. And really good. The service was also good, staff really friendly.

Outstanding vegan food

We absolutely loved every bite of our meal! Despite offering not the biggest portions and being quite pricey, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Make sure to try their flatbread as it was maybe the best we ever had. The staff was incredibly friendly, also giving us tips on what to do and where to go in Penang/Georgetown.

Pros: All vegan , Friendly and attentive staff , Lovely interior

Cons: A bit pricey

Tasty Malaysian Food

My partner and I both ordered the rendang with a flatbread and we enjoyed the dish. The courgette pieces were well cooked and the sauce was nicely seasoned but it didn't really wow us. There were some herbs and bits of pickled papaya on the plate which added some different textures and flavours. The meal was tasty without being truly great and I feel it would have benefitted from some more sauce. The bread was generally quite well made, it was maybe a bit thick and my partner thought it tasted just a little bit sweet.

We also got a plate of inche kabin. These were marinated and fried hericium mushrooms served with rice crackers and a tangy sauce. These were delicious, the mushrooms tasted great and had wonderful texture. The rice crackers and the sauce combined with the mushrooms made for a great bite with different textures and flavours.

We got lempeng for dessert. These were coconut pancakes topped with passion fruit, mango and a scoop of coconut ice cream. My partner really enjoyed this whilst I wasn't so keen on the flavour of the pancakes.

I got a lychee spritzer which was sweet, cold and refreshing, which was exactly what I was looking for. My partner got an iced chocolate to drink, it was very enjoyable and chocolatey. It didn't seem to be sweetened so it might not be for everyone.

Really stunning vegan food!

A must visit in Penang for vegan food. We amazing restaurant with great service. Food is pricier than other vegan choices in Penang but it is worth it! I do wish the portion sizes were bigger but it meant we got to try more stuff

Pros: All vegan place , Unique menu , Has its own store

Cons: Pricier than other vegan options, Wish it had bigger portions

Truly stunning food - traditional dishes veganised

This is an elegant restaurant with absolutely stunning food - Everything we had was delicious, couldn’t recommend it enough!
The staff were also exceptionally helpful, friendly and kind, - advising on the menu when we asked and explaining each dish! While potentially pricy for Penang, you get what you paid for and our meal (for two with starters, sides and drinks) still came to around £20 - so by UK standards it is extraordinary value!!

Amazing eco friendly and sustainable gem

Vegan friendly restaurant with amazing Malaysian inspired cuisine. Didn’t know local traditional dishes can taste so good without the meat/dairy proteins!
Their eco friendly and sustainable shopping offers lots of local Malaysian made brands. It’s a beautifully decorated lifestyle shop. Makes me want to buy everything!

Pros: The ambiance , The food, The products sold

Delicious high quality creative foods

The plates are locally inspired dishes. We chose multiple small plates. The staff is very helpful and can explain the dishes and their backgrounds. Very nice experience and all vegan.

Amazing new Vegan cafe and store

Great options, short walk from the town centre and/or Jetty area. Expensive for Penang but you get what you pay for!

Phenomenal food

An unforgettable experience at Restaurant Kommune in Penang! The Massaman Curry and Lo Pak Gou were a true taste explosion. The dishes conveyed a sense of fine dining. It’s a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it.
