Antiespecista

Very nice staff

Nice staff that was very helpful. This place is all about animal rights which is always nice to see. Unfortunately they were out of seitan and tofu when we were there, but we had the daily and a chorrillana (traditional Chilean dish with fries, vegetables (usually some meat), and cheese). The daily consisted of a small salad, a bean patty and rice with some sauce but was unfortunately quite bland. It would have been better with more of the tasty sauce. The chorrillana was very good though. I would like to try one if the burgers with seitan or tofu the next time.

Pros: Animal rights focus, Good selection of dishes, Free wifi

Cons: Some dishes are not that exciting

Fantastic heathy food

Went for lunch with my girlfriend. We ordered the lunch of the day which consisted of soup a salad and a main course of rice, breaded courgette and stir fried veg. All the food was delicious and the seating area upstairs was comfy and quiet. With good music and friendly staff this is the perfect place for lunch.

Pros: Great tasting food, Inexpensive , 100% vegan

Cold mediocre food and very slow service

I got my order after more than 30 minutes after I was told the kitchen is very busy, even though the place was quite empty.
I asked for an empanadas meanwhile. I got it, but it was completely cold (after heating!).
The burger I had was far from amazing. It was OK. Nothing special.

Cons: Slow service, cold and not spectacular food

Delicioso!

Pros: Comida Abundante, Todo Vegan, Sabor Casero

Cons: Ubicación

Great food

Great food and very cheap! The milkshakes and ice cream both have gluten free options! The main meal comes with a salad and a soup so it’s quiet large over all

Pros: Milkshakes are delicious , Good value for money, A couple dogs come in&out downstairs to say hello

great and cheap

On Tuesdays they serve usual sandwich but only one “menu popular” for 1500.-, and the money is given to an animal sanctuary. It was delicious, and you just can’t beat the price!
Usual menus and sandwichs are around 3000.-.

Super awesome

They were quite busy when we arrived, and they gave us a friendly greeting while telling us we were 4th in line to place our orders. That was fine, as long as we knew that they saw we'd arrived.

The food was worth the wait!

Big portions for not a lot of money, delicious, everything vegan, and the milkshakes were good but not great.

We shared the 2 different versions of a plate of the day, and we liked everything we tried.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly, Milkshakes!

I and a friend ordered the chickpea hamburger menu with salad and side dish and as dessert a mini fruit cake. The prices were quite good with 2900 for the menu,1000 for juices and 1000 for the dessert. But the chickpea hamburger was just the patty like it is serverd in some countries, not a whole hamburger like thought. The food lacked spices for my tastes. After we ate some customer asked if the hamburger came with bread and the waitress said she could arrange it so I give you the til to ask nicely for thinks like bread. The collective is quite spontaneous and flexible. You can also choose when you are asked at the end, to give a ten percent tip, its optional. Now the dessert was really good! I can recommend to look inside for the cake, its worth its price

Pros: dessert, price, alternative vibe

Cons: lack of spices

Never Been Kicked Out Before

It is run by a co-op of young women. Our two couples ordered. The waitress did not bring the soup and salad listed on the menu, so we asked about it. She went to the kitchen to have a meeting. She returned and said that since our orders were below a little line on the menu, we would not get that. The menu was still not clear, so we complained. They had another meeting. She came back and said we had to pay for what we got (4 lemonades, 1 sandwich) and leave. We asked to start over and have them bring our food. They would not. After more conversation, we did pay and leave.
On the sidewalk, my husband took pictures of the place. A gal came out and tried to knock his camera out of his hands. He held it high. After a few minutes, four or five more of them came out, all trying to knock his camera away, all shouting, “We don’t need your gringo money!”
Finally, the waitress told them to go inside. As they left, one of them turned and spit toward me and then spit toward my husband.
Since we did not get anything to eat, we really cannot recommend the food…or the place.

Good food and prices

Been here in nov 2016. Food is good, many options in the menu, all vegan. Had dificulties in being served by anyone speaking a little English. The upstairs is simple but cozy.

Unique

It was a great place to stop after arriving in Valparaiso. It's near the bus station.
The atmosphere is cool and unique and the food was just as good.
We ordered a melon juice and a fries and soy meat platter. Big portions and tasty food!

Pros: friendly staff, nice vibe, good for non vegans

Cons: non healthy burgers

good food!

The food is delicious, especially the sandwiches like the "Totoro" and "Antipasto".
In their entrance they have a blackboard that explains about its operation: a collective of vegan people who work in cooperative and reject attitudes that can oppress others. This is very important and comfortable for those who visit this place.
Totally recommended!

Pros: The staff is very friendly., good price

Cons: few cakes.

good food (forget the rest)

The food (sandwiches) was quite good. But the beverages were really awful: The lemon lemonade tasted like water with a little cucumber. And the green tea contained so much sugar that it tasted more like a coke than tea. The ambiente is ok - appropriate to a collective (not really cosy). BUT: At least it's good vegan food.

Lovely (100% vegan) place

It's totally non pretentious street food, but it's really rad. Sandwiches for instance are huge, so tasty and with awesome sauces. I brought quite a few omnivores there and they all loved it!

I also love the team's commitment towards good causes, vegan but also supporting political prisoners for instance. They are awesome and so friendly.

Pros: Ultra yummy food, Inexpensive, Lovely people

Cons: Closes a bit early in the evening, for the Chilean

Simple and satisfying

We arrived at 6:30 pm (90 minutes prior to closing) so we only had access to the fixed basic menu. It was simple, satisfying, no frills. A green salad, potato-onion soup (a bit watery), and spaghetti with a barley-tomato sauce. We also had a nice coconut lemonade. They were out of vegan cupcakes and other fun-sounding menu items. We would go back to explore the menu further. The environment was comfortable, simple, and covered with righteous political posters. The meal cost about $4 per person.

Lovely place and lovely people

Went there 3 times when I went to Valparaiso in November 2015, and I wish I could have stayed longer to go again to that place.
Not only it is open on Sundays (everyday in fact) but also open from 10am to 8pm, which is great.
Apart from that, the food is really good AND affordable ($2900 the normal set menu, $3500 the special, all with salad, soup and main course), they have good beverages (coco lemonade, strawberry juice, "figs coffee", and so on) and many good desserts.
They have WiFi and a lot of anarchist fanzines & pamphlets to read & share, focusing on themes such as antispeciesism, feminism, anti-authoritarian struggles. If you don't feel comfortable with anarchist propaganda you shouldn't go there, but the staff is really nice with everyone anyway.
Definitely a place to go and an initiative to promote and support!

(plus it is well located, near to the buses terminal, and close to the sea)

Pros: Very nice staff and local, Excellent and affordable food, Very good vegan desserts

Excellent food

Komedor Vegetariano is run by a organization of humble and nice young activist.
They offer tasty daily menus as well as several dishes and very good desserts. They also have a bookshelf full of veg- literature and fanzines.

I ate several times here during my weeklong stay in Valpo. Definitely recommended.
