best vegan - Edit

We have been in hoi an for a week trying out all the vegan and vegetarian options around town. This place was the best so far. The flavor combinations send your tastebuds on a rollercoaster. We had the oriental noodle salad- incredible. Worth the wait for sure.

Pros: everything

Meh - Edit

There is no banh mi tofu here! At least not anymore as of July 3 2017. Spring rolls were bland and uninspiring. My advice would be to walk up the alley 2 doors and get some decent veg food at What Else.

kolo 09 Jul 2017 - Hello Kate,

Thank you for taking the time to give us the kind of feedback that helped us work harder to improve the quality of our food as well as the menu choices.
Our popular item - banh mi - is off the menu until we can find non-GMO tofu and a better alternative to white bread. We hope it'll be back on the menu soon!
We can learn a handful of things from our neighbor What Else cafe, but KOLO is open for a different reason: to offer wholesome, affordable vegan food and promote an eco, low-impact way of life.

Thanks again and we hope you'll keep supporting the community by trying and giving us your opinion!

Best,
KOLO team

Not for me - Edit

The location and restaurant was lovely with great book about veganism and the environment. However, the food was not very flavorful and quite small portions verses other places we went. We tried the Buddha bowl and the jack fruit sandwich. After the meal we were still hungry and had to get snacks elsewhere.

Pros: good location

Cons: small portions, not flavourful

gann26 20 May 2017 - Hi Kylie! Thank you for your honest comment. We're sorry you didn't leave feeling as satisfied as we wanted our customers to, What you've mentioned about the taste and portion size was correct and intentional. Mock meats and flavor enhancers (MSGs) are big no-no at KOLO, and we try to not overwhelm the taste of the fresh veggie by using too many spices so you can savor the true taste of the fresh ingredients, which is what Japanese cuisine is all about. We keep the portion size not too large, that's typical in Japanese culture too, also in Vietnamese culture where people like to pick a lot of different dishes and share :). However, we'll in the future give options for Small/Large portion sizes so people can choose!
Thanks again and keep the happy cow smiling!

Vietnameese food with a new inspiration - Edit

The food is vietnameese with a new twist. Still the same local ingrediants, but the cook keeps experimenting with new flavours, which is really nice. Lovely decor and friendly staff :)

The food here is amazing and definitely worth checking out. The menu is very health food based with lots of delicious and fresh ingredients. The prices are incredibly reasonable too (we paid 75k/person for a meal and a smoothie).

Highly recommended!
