Poor staff service, good food options.

The menu has things clearly labeled vegan or vegetarian, just be sure to omit the tzatziki sauce on some vegan items, as that is made with yogurt. There are many good options for both vegetarian and vegan.
The staff service was pretty unacceptable, in both friendliness and attentiveness. The waitress got our appetizer and drink orders and was going to come back later to take our entre orders. Our food took a while to come out and she never brought our drinks. After we had finished our appetizers I had to get up and ask for our drinks and to order our food. A person at our table wasn't ready to order yet so we asked her to come back for their order. After we were done eating I had to get up and find her to ask her to take that person's order.

Pros: Many veg options clearly labeled, tasty food

Cons: A little expensive, poor staff, food took a while

Good veggie options!

Liked the falafel and the fries. But a bit on the pricy end.

Pretty ok for not having many options in town

I had the yucca fries and the eggplant. I enjoyed both. Just that they weren’t served together was a bit of a pity.
Dessert was the tapioca and although they were already out of that for the night the cook made some new tapioca pudding. Very nice of her! And it was also a very tasty dish!
It’s definitely a place that is ok to go to again. Oh, and also because of free wifi.
The menu is, by the way, pretty much identical with The Open Kitchen.

Pros: Staff is pretty ok, speak English , A couple dishes to choose from, Free wifi

Very disappointing

We had a very poor experience here. We ordered the falafel plate, which comes with fries and a salad. The falafel tasted okay, but the fries clearly were fried in the same oil as seafood, as they had an extremely unpleasant fish taste. I’d guess the falafel was as well, but it was harder to notice. We both had some intestinal distress the next morning. To top it off, the local beer on tap was flat and of poor flavor.

Pros: none

Now called Monteverde Beer House

The restaurant had a great atmosphere and really good food. We were able to stuff ourselves silly here.

Best veg in Monteverde

This was the best place we ate in Monteverde. There just aren't a lot of vegetarian choices here.

The restaurant has both indoor seating and a patio with outdoor seating surrounded by greenery.

We had the grilled eggplant, hummus with whole wheat pita, and the orange soup.

The orange soup was made with pumpkin, carrot, sweet potatoes, ginger and coconut. It was only 3,500 colones. It was very good.

My son had the falafel that come with fries, a salad, tahini and tzatziki sauce. It was 5,300 colones which was preset good considering the generous portion.

hummus/falafel heaven

Considering there are very limited vegan places to eat out in Santa Elena/Monteverde, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this place has delicious falafel/hummus dishes and the staff are able to cater to your needs.
