Serves meat, vegan options available. Every 2nd Thursday of the month, from evening 5-8pm this place hosts a vegetarian sushi night where most items are vegan suitable, with huge variety of sushi and other Japanese food like dumplings and miso soup (without fish stock). Modern space, not a central location but close to The Palms Mall and by a bus stop. Confirmed closed December 2018.

Vegetarian Sushi Night

I went there with my wife after seeing some comments about the place and the food. Every fortnight they have the vegetarian Sushi night, where you can fill a container with sushi and pay a fixed price. The food was really good (we had Miso, Don and Sushi) and the owner is such a great person. I highly recommend this place!

Pros: Almost everything is vegan

すごい！ So glad to have Happy Cow in NZ! On the perfect day we’re in Christchurch! Second Thursday of the month from 5-8p they do a vegan sushi night. The owner Aaron (?) and Keiko were so sweet to us. They got married on the same beach in Hawaii like us too! Anyways having a vegan sushi option is great! $10 for a medium bento and $15 for large bento to fill up. Take only what you think you can eat!
No cows were harmed in the making of this review ;)

Pros: special vegan night , nice owners, great selection

sushi night!

I feel like I should be able to give this place five stars, because on vegan sushi night there is no meat served! For $15 the fill a box is definitely a winner. They basically let you fill your sushi box as much as you like, so it's great value for money. There is a lot of choice too.

Pros: huge portion, good value , lots of options

Cons: vegan sushi night only once per fortnight , get there early or it starts to sell out

we stopped by on vege night last thursday and the selection is really good! everything vegan. interesting combinations. $15 for a big box was a decent price. highly recommend :)

The best sushi ever!

I didn't know how good sushi cold be until I went to a Koi veg night. Huge array of options with many varieties of sushi. Most sushi places just put salad or avo in their sushi but at Koi they do vegan tempura or a miso paste or a marinated tofu - it is amazing all the options they have. Plus they have other Japanese savouries such as dumplings and other delicate yummy offerings. You fill your box for either $15 or $10. The staff are just lovely. It is worth getting a box for dinner (you can eat in) and another one to take away for lunch the next day. Easy parking and on a bus route on one of the main roads heading out of the city.
