Food was very tasty. Vegan meals clearly marked in the menu. When we ordered, waitress even asked if we are vegan and she explained how they make vegan food and which substitues they use. We even got complimentary bruschetta while waiting. Chef came out to ask if everything is good-big plus for that! Seating area is very nice, seafront. Good local wine 😄

I’m not sure why all the reviews are so glowing, nice service at this place but in terms of vegan options it was pretty weak. My partner eats meat and fish and he was very happy but I had the risotto which was more or less the only vegan risotto. Was nice but lacked salt and flavour. Save your money here, much prefer the vegan bistro we went in Hvar Town 10 mins away on the other side of the harbour.

The waitress knew really much about vegan food and made sure that we got all that we wanted. Made a special starter for us that was actually a maincourse from the beginning.

I am not exaggerating when I say I will never forget the meal at Kod Kapetana. The staff are beyond amazing and friendly and are really knowledgeable about vegan food. We had the vegetable risotto with smoked tofu and it was maybe the best risotto I've ever had.

I had the truffle pasta and it was incredible. My partner asked for a mix of tofu, salad and chips. All very good. Beware that their prices can be a bit cheeky - we were charged for a full side salad after asking for a bit of salad on the side, and also charged for a tiny bruschetta (that was brought over without asking, we assumed it was complementary). Food very good though!

Last night we ate at the kod kapetana because of the good reviews on happy cow and because it’s quite hard to find vegan stuff in hvar.
Read moreWhen we arrived we directly asked the very friendly waitress (who is vegetarian transitioning to vegan) for vegan food. She said it‘s not written on the menu but they’re happy to make us something.
We got a very delicious vegan risotto with vegan sausages and for desert we got chocolate and salted caramel ice cream. Everything was perfect and probably the most delicious vegan food we had in hvar.
Definitely recommend!!!

We had a wonderful evening there thanks to the top service. Some of the vegan options we had were not on the menu (the starter platter or the fried tofu), but you can always ask them for vegan options and the staff is super helpful and friendly!

This restaurant is by the sea and has a sign outside that says “vegan friendly.” The waitstaff is amazing- very kind and the service is very fast. The first time we stopped by, a waitress told us that the cook who usually makes the vegan options comes in that day at 3pm, but the cook there earlier can definitely do something also. We returned the next evening and the same waitress remembered us, and offered us lots of options, including handmade pasta with truffle sauce and seasonable veggies, with avocado toast as an appetizer. She also offered French fries but we declined since it seemed like a lot of food already (and it was). The dish came with a sweet potato purée which was very good, and everyone at the restaurant gets a bread with fresh tomato and herb appetizer. Everything ended up being billed separately- the table bread, the pasta, veggies, purée, appetizers… but everything was cheap, with the truffle pasta being 150 kuna and the total coming out to under 300 kuna for two people. The pasta with truffle sauce especially was very good, and unlike anything I’ve had anywhere else. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening there!

They are not listed as vegan restaurant but they made sure we have everything we need. They made vegan breakfast for us (avocado toast and quinoa with almond milk and rose honey(just from rose)). We returned the day after and had hummus starters with avocado salad and then we gad sweet potato with homemade vegetable fritters and very good salad. They also had vegan ice cream available which we enjoyed as well. They were very polite and really made us feel welcomed!
