Creative food, cute environment - Edit
They are about to close for a menu refresh and renovation, but I’m sure it will be even better! Great location and ambience with creative mixings of unexpected flavors.

Never disappoints. The best vegan food in San Diego, imo. Their brunch and dinner are both fantastic, and cocktails are to die for.

Great atmosphere and amazing cocktails - Edit
The setting was really cool. We sat up at the bar, but didn't feel too watched or cramped. We got two cocktails and the tofu skewers, as everyone seemed to recommend them. I wish they could have been crispier and more bitesize, but that is just personal preference.

One of our favorite “go to” restaurants - Edit
We moved to San Diego around a year ago, and have been to Kindred for brunch and for dinner, with visitors, and as a couple. Every visit is fun, and filled with good food and drinks- and you better like rock music too. The place has a big energy and great servers. Their skewers are amazing- vegan food with fabulous flavors and spices- not wheatgrass or bland in any way. Highly recommended!
Read morePros: Flavorful food, Festive atmosphere, Great drinks and good for either brunch or dinner
Cons: Sometimes too loud- can’t hear your dinner partner

incredibly amazing - Edit
five stars isn’t enough, the food and ambience were so so good. the seitan skewers, grilled cheese, and s’mores cookies absolutely blew my mind. the “soul crush” was good but nothing special, the mac and cheese tasted kinda sweet to me. overall one of the best vegan restaurants i’ve ever been to, if not the best. they had a heavy metal/cat/occult vibe going on and it was really fun. the check came in a d&d book and the bathroom had really funny pics of cats in it. 100% coming back, even my non-vegan friend loved it as much as i did.

The food here is pretty good. The clientele is eclectic. I dug the hard rock or heavy metal music 🎶 🎵.

delicious brunch:) - Edit
i was recommended kindred all the way from john at the coronado phx (also vegan) in arizona, and i have to say, this place is really one of a kind! i loved the decor and vibe.
Read morewhile a little on the slower side, the building was packed at peak brunch hour. they were also very conscious of somebody in my group’s nut allergy, and made sure we were aware of which dishes had nuts and which did not.
all the dishes were pretty good; however, my favorites were the benedict and pancakes. the benedict had this wonderful vegan hollandaise, and the tofu was delicious. the pancakes had bourbon butterscotch and caramelized apples, as well as a coconut cream!

Amazing food, service and the ambience is so incredible! It’s a metal themed vegan cafe and the attention to detail in everything from their food and cocktails to decor is the best. This is a must visit if you’re in San Diego!

All vegan menu with inventive cocktails and creative flavor combos. Brunch on the weekends until 2pm, we enjoyed the Caesar salad with watermelon radish, white miso dressing, crispy gardein strips and fried capers; also had the "Good Morning Captain" - chickpea cake breakfast entree.

Get the burger! - Edit
The burger is incredible. I hate going out and getting an impossible burger because I can make them at home but this place did such a great job. I’ve never had a vegan burger like this and I couldn’t recommend it more. The Mac and cheese was also good. And all the drinks we got were very tasty.

This place is something else! - Edit
I’m glad I made my way here! The ambiance is something else. I would say it’s more a bar than a restaurant. I sat at the bar and saw many of the drinks be made in front of me. They all smelled so fresh and were beautiful. The food was AMAZING!! I had the grilled cheese with tomato bisque, wow!! From what I get, the menu changed with the seasons, so definitely check it out more than once (if you can).

Magical - Edit
I love the Kindred, the witchy atmosphere is amazing, the cocktails are very good and the food is delicious. We had the Soul Crush and the High Steaks; just by presentation and especially depth of flavor this could easily be a upscale restaurant.

Unique Experiences - Edit
From the outside, I’d be shocked if you told me this restaurant is fully vegan. It certainly has its own unique style and atmosphere that cannot be replicated, so it’s truly a joy that the menu is entirely vegan. It has indoor and outdoor seating with a large bar, just like you’d expect from a high quality restaurant. This is a place you could take your non vegan friends to and they wouldn’t even realize they’re eating vegan food.

Always amazing. - Edit
It doesn't matter what time of year or when I come to this restaurant. The food is always impeccable. The service is always impeccable. I love the restaurants atmosphere. The decorum the choices of food and the wonderful bartenders that make your morning great. I had my birthday breakfast here and every time I'm in San Diego I always have breakfast or lunch or some tidbit of food from this restaurant. It's quite amazing. I love it. The food is good and there's nothing that I've ever experienced that wouldn't make me want to come back except that my plate got empty and I wanted more cuz it was just so tasty. But thank you guys for having a great experience

Expensive and disappointing - Edit
Was excited to finally have dinner here. Easy parking, nice atmosphere. Our table for two was tiny, and we were seated nearly shoulder to shoulder with tables on either side (zero conversational privacy). The menu was short and sweet, and pretty spendy. The food ranged from pretty good (side of homemade potato chips) to bad (huckleberry white tea that tasted like raisin water. The jackfruit made a nice pulled bbq, but the sauce was unremarkable and it was served on hard, dry toast that hurt to eat. Our table was so small that our plates were hanging off the edges. Won’t be going back.

Nice place with a cool vibe and good cocktails. - Edit
The starters were fantastic- especially the seitan skewers. Our mains were a bit hit and miss. I didn’t enjoy my mushroom steaks as the flavours were a bit intense and the veggies not as fresh as I would have expected for the price. My companions really enjoyed their mains though- the gardein and the jackfruit.

Delivery didn’t disappoint - Edit
I have been wanting to try Kindred for years and while in SD this trip I finally just ordered delivery (my friend didn’t want to go). I ordered the BFS. All the reviews said the potatoes were amazing and I concur! I also really liked the biscuit sandwich - super tasty even though it wasn’t fresh out of the kitchen. Wish I could have tried even more but hopefully next time!
