Closed despite opposite information on website - Edit
This restaurant is about one hour from New Orleans by public transport (street car). We took the long journey because of the good reviews after checking the website carefully for opening hours.
Read moreWhen we arrived, there was just a paper sign saying 'closed for holidays. This was on August 11 whereas the website stated holiday closure from August 13-16 only.
Furthermore, the website provides the menu but without information about prices.
Cons: Unreliable opening hours l , No information about prices on website

Amazing all vegan - Edit
The dressing on the side salad was the BEST! Everything we had was great. Brussel sprouts, waffle fries, shrimp po boys, and a couple of chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Wonderful-and great service

Tasty NOLA Vegan Food! - Edit
Kindred had some really tasty vegan food. The Brussels sprouts were incredible (legitimately, one of the best Brussels sprouts apps I've ever had) and the shrimp po boy was really good, too!
Read moreThe service was great. We got in right at opening and were well taken care of.
I was glad my friends and I made a point to get to Kindred while in NOLA, although it is a bit off the beaten path if you're doing the tourism thing!

Amazing vegan food, gluten free options - Edit
We ate here twice while we were in New Orleans, and had the pleasure of eating brunch on a Sunday. Fantastic gluten free waffle, and very tasty French toast. I also tried the chickpea tuna salad (excellent), mac and cheese (also excellent), and waffle fries. The vegan burger was not my favorite - if you like impossible or beyond, you will probably not enjoy the patty they use. But otherwise awesome and fantastic service. Highly recommend!

We visited during happy hour 🍻… we enjoyed 2 appetizers, salad, a burger and the lemon butter quinoa. Everything was thoughtfully prepared.

Tasty but expensive - Edit
Tasty vegan diner food which gets a higher rating due to lack of local options.
Read moreThe coffee martini was tasty but heavy on the coffee liqueur. The fried cauliflower appetizer was just the right size -- about a 10-12 oz bowl of uniformly trimmed, air fried florets.
For my entree, I ordered the fried mushroom "shrimp poboy" -- and was really surprised to see so few mushrooms. Any respectable shrimp poboy is busting with filling, but this was a sedate sandwich with the dozen or so little mushrooms safely nestled within the margins of the pillowy poboy roll. Each bite was 65% bread and 15% sauce -- I could barely tell there were mushrooms in there (maybe they are more expensive here, IDK).
Service was timely, friendly and organized.
Pros: Customer service, Fried cauliflower
Cons: Poboy - more bread than fried mushrooms

Are y’all just being nice? - Edit
Okay, I’m currently giving a hard side eye to every person that rated this establishment more than 3 stars. I was extremely disappointed and I’m going to assume that I made bad choices and take full accountability for the waste of $30.
Read moreFirst of all, I ordered online, called to confirm about 10 minutes after placing my order because I read that the online ordering system is unreliable, and was told that my order would be ready in 25 minutes. Well I want there after thirty minutes (now 40 since I placed the order) and was nonchalantly told that it would be another 15 minutes. This was a major let down since the wife had also ordered and needed to pick up her food.
Fast forward to the actual food- I ordered the Buffalo cauliflower Mac and cheese and fried mushrooms. If you’ve read any of my reviews you know that I’m a mushroom fanatic so I was excited about these. Unfortunately they were nothing to write home about. Under seasoned, if any at all, and the spicy Mayo for dipping, tasted more like a Buffalo sauce. Major let down!
The cauli Mac was also a let down. The cheese tasted very mustardy and the cauliflower barely had any sauce on it. I added the kindred sauce
on the side to add some uumph and it was like liquid nutritional yeast.
Overall I’m extremely disappointed in this place and never have to go back again. Try it at your own risk but don’t say I didn’t warn you 🤷🏾♀️
Pros: Fully vegan

Great poboy and mac&cheese - Edit
The fried mushroom poboy was delicious, and the mac&cheese had a great sauce. We ordered takeout but might go back before we leave because it seems like a nice place to sit and eat

DELICIOUS!! - Edit
The meatball pasta with vegan cheese was so tasty! And the brussel sprouts have an amazing seasoning on them. The quesadilla was very average but also great for kids or picky eaters. UPDATE: Ordered for breakfast and the avocado toast was delicious as was the cinnamon roll🤤
