Amazing tofu cake! - Edit
Ordered way too much as they are closing on the 30/5/24, and wanted to try everything.
Read moreThe tofu cake was my favourite thing we had, it's basically a vegan version of a crab cake, the kaffir lime and lemongrass really came through and was so tasty. The rest of the mixed appetiser plate, especially the corn fritter, was pretty average.
The Pad Si Iew was delicious, although an extra $3 for the tofu.
The Drunken noodles were WAY too spicy, I couldn't eat it, and the Gravy noodles had a strange taste to it.
All 3 noodle dishes had the same mix of uninspiring veggies.
The caramelised banana and sticky rice was enjoyable.
Pros: Tofu cake

Delicious Thai food - Edit
Plenty of choice of stir fries, curries, soups & sides, heart portions, fresh veggies. The seaweed tofu was a standout I don’t know what they do to it but it’s amazing. Stir fry was crunchy & flavoursome. Not too spicy.

Great food. Nice people - Edit
Casual dinner at the end of the day. Red Curry with Tofu and the Stir Fry with Seitan. We shared an entree with 4 or 5 different dishes. Service is good. Servings are appropriately sized. #Veganuary

Papaya salad kinda night - Edit
Good lil spot with lots of fellas around. A banana rock nearby was a good sight to see, typically means “safe neighbourhood” UNLESS THERE ARE MONKEYS!!!!
Read moreOtherwise, food sizes where a tad small for my large palette, and the sauce flavourings for some of the dishes where to be undesired. Staff however was friendly! Yet the chairs where not, I often had a fear that the weight of 185lbs would cause the table to collapse.
Highlight of my dining experience would have to be waiting at the single bathroom door shared among the 5 restaurants in the small area. 1 toilet vs 1000 men is a tale to be remembered.
THANKS! #Veganuary

Highly, highly recommend - Edit
My partner and I went here for dinner right after Vegan Camp Out Australia, and being a Sunday night it was amazing seeing so many places open and buzzing given we are used to a ghost town in Perth. 😅
Read moreBut onto the food here. Absolutely delicious! Can't remember the names of the dishes we had but mine was off the specials menu and I think it was something along the lines of Kra Pao, apologies if that's incorrect. Didn't get a photo of the menus. It was quite spicy, but with some fresh cold coconut water was completely manageable and worth it for the taste.
I had the tofu rice paper rolls for an entree with a damn good dipping sauce too. My partner had a seitan stir fry for her main, again can't remember the exact name, and she said it was delicious.
Service was great, staff very friendly. I would highly recommend this place. And it is great for celiacs and gluten intolerant folk too.
If I had to knit pick something I'd say the tables are quite close and it can get busy, so maybe could be worth booking ahead. But we had no issue getting a table when we arrived. But the establishment is quite small so I don't blame them for putting the tables quite close.
10/10

Great Pad Si Iew - Edit
It was busy at 19:00 on a Monday, I was able to get a seat by myself and I’d probably recommend reserving.

Love the space, not a fan of the opening hours - Edit
We went on a sunny Sunday for lunch and everything looked amazing out there in the patio, then we found out they only open for lunch on weekends. Sigh, but fair enough. The satay skewers tasted OK, the pork katsu don tasted more like chicken than pork. The crispy duck tasted much better, though, and we did enjoy our meal overall, so I'd give it 4.5 stars, some room for improvement. I eat a lot and thought the dishes seemed larger than normal (the price as well), so maybe ordering a starter and a main dish might feed 2 people easily.
Read morePros: Lots of options, Large portions, Outdoor patio
Cons: Wouldn't order the satay chicken again

Very good but better options elsewhere in the city - Edit
This is a very good plant based Thai restaurant with mainly outdoor seating. The service was very good too, as well as the pricing. However there are some better plant based options in the city. We had the Mixed Sides for starters and the Massaman Curry. They tasted very nice.

Tasty Thai - Edit
Fully vegan Thai restaurant with a range of options! We started with the sweetcorn fritters and spring rolls and then shared the coconut lime stir fry and drunken noodles. The coconut lime stir fry was delicious but didn’t love the drunken noodles. Food was all tasty but was all a bit cold! Service was amazing though and it was byo!

good but lacked flavour - Edit
A fully vegan thai restaurant with a lot of interesting options. It’s in an outdoor courtyard with other restaurants which is really lovely to sit in, it’s also BYO which saves some money, but there is a small corkcage charge. We shared the sweetcorn fritters and spring rolls as a starter. Both of these were very crispy and tasty! For mains we shared the drunken noodles with seaweed tofu and the coconut and lime stir fry with vegan chicken and coconut rice. The curry and rice came out cold but they did reheat them for us. The noodles were nice and the protein in both mains was tasty but they did lack flavour a bit. The portion sizes were good as was the service!

5 star for food but not service - Edit
Came here on a whim with three non-veggies. I had a hard time choosing from the rice and noodle dishes as they have a broad choice. I was going to try something new, but in the end, I didn’t.
Read moreI am marking one star down not because of the choice or quality of the food, but the lack of top customer service. Specifically, we were waiting seated for a while with no attention before ordering via our phones. Top tip: go online to see a picture for each of the dishes on the menu.
For some reason, my order didn’t go through their system (but displayed as done on my phone). So while the orders of the others came through one by one, mine didn’t. The waitress didn’t check-in to see if we were waiting on anything else and so the error was only detected when I got up and asked about my order. I then placed one with the waitress and ate my lunch while everyone else had already finished.

Seaweed Tofu, I hardly knew you. - Edit
Overall "Meh". Pretty generic Thai. They got my order wrong and forgot items. Of what I did recieve the veges were nice and crunchy, but the mockmeat was plain and low quality. Generally overpriced for what you get, but that's Sydney I suppose.

Wow - Edit
First visit: Amazing taste, big portion, abundant options, well priced.
Read moreSecond visit: They are so good, I ordered takeout for dinner. I’m happy to say that there’s no drop in performance/portion etc.
Panang Curry is excellent, creamy curry soup base has just the right balance. It may be too hot for some, but it’s perfect for a cold September night. My only complain is that the veggies and tofu didn’t get all the flavour soaked in, maybe they were prepared separately from the curry base.
All veggies are fresh, unlike frozen veggies at Mother Chu which I consider subpar. Chilli basil fried rice tastes great, it serves as a perfect “how to properly make a fried rice if you still want customers to come again” lesson to chefs at Mother Chu.
