Excellent vegan options in Vero Beach - Edit
Surprisingly Vero Beach is a little thin on vegan fare, but the Kilted Mermaid has a very nice amount of plant based options. I spoke with my server at length and was told that the kitchen takes great pride in the quality of their vegan offerings. I had the vegan empanadas as a starter and they were outstanding (no photo because I devoured them so quickly). The pastry was flakey and the filling delicious. For my main I ordered the Teriyaki mixed veggies that came on a bed of rice. Both items were very fresh and very tasty. Portions were generous and prices quite reasonable for a beach resort city. The restaurant has a fun vibe, lots of locals, live entertainment most nights. Local or visiting vegans are lucky Kilted Mermaid is so accommodating to we plant based folks.

Update- I went back a second time and could not resist the empanadas as a starter (sooooo good) and this time for my main I had the Dahl Stew which was really delicious. Vero doesn’t have any fully vegan places, so the key is to find these few places that care about vegans, and the Kilted Mermaid absolutely does care. 🌱🌱

Yum! Loved the food and vibe - Edit
My niece and I arrived right at 5 pm when they open and were glad we did as they filled up quickly. Seating includes indoor and outdoor covered options. We got the queso fondue, samosas, and veggie dahl with tofu. My niece had never had Indian or tofu or fondue before but was game to try it. She liked everything and so did I. The queso is listed as “spicy” but ours barely had a kick. It was tasty regardless. The staff was attentive, and I think three different servers checked on us throughout our meal. The food arriving to other tables looked just as yummy as ours was. #Veganuary

Smooth service, wine and vegan food - Edit
I come to Vero Beach to visit a friend once in a while, finding it hard to find trustworthy vegan food here. Kilted Mermaid by far has the best vegan food in town.

Best Vegan Options Vero Beach - Edit
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Vero. The menu boasts many vegan options with new items added regularly. The vegan cheese and chocolate fondues are great and it's nice to see that on the menu, not only non-vegan offerings. There are a number of appetizers, sandwiches, a couple of flatbread options, dahl stew, and a cashew bowl that tofu can be added to. The house wines are vegan. The staff is knowledgeable about vegan options. Service is great, with both indoor seating and a large outdoor patio.

Clever choices and excellent service - Edit
Fun spot with interesting and tasty vegan options. We had the dip trio- loaded with veggies and other dippers. Haven’t even been to a fully vegan spot with such yummy dips. Also had the flatbread with added artichokes and spinach, and the Asian bowl with tofu. All great!

A go-to destination for Vero - Edit
Vero Beach, unfortunately, isn't a very vegan-friendly place. However, Kilted Mermaid is one of the few bright spots. They have several items marked as vegan on their menu including an Asian Cashew Bowl that's pretty good. Other items include Spicy Vegan Queso Fondue, Impossible Meatballs, and a Vegan Flatbread Pizza. The atmosphere is kind of funky and fun. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking and open late.

Vegan options galore and fun inclusive environment - Edit
Vegan options include: queso cheeze fondue, chocolate fondue, Asian cashew bowl, Dahl stew, Impossiball sub, samosas, Mediterranean flatbread (ask for it vegan), roasted red pepper hummus, black bean hummus, housemade cashew cheeze and feta. The Kilted Salad is great too if you sub the goat cheese for vegan feta. Amazing craft beer, boutique wine, cider and seltzer selections and even a few canned cocktails and wine cocktails. Drag bingo monthly, Pride Day celebrations, Irish music and Open Mic on Wednesdays, Hot Jams Trivia Thursdays, live music Fridays-Sundays. There is something for everyone here!

Wide variety of vegan options, cool vibe, great drink selection - Edit
The title says it all, but was blown away by the number of vegan options. My favorites were the impossible meatballs (with optional vegan feta) and the kimchi pancakes. But vegan fondue, pretzel, hummus, and I forget the rest😄Very funky and cool vibe, and an extensive drink menu. If I lived in Vero, I would be a regular.

Not good - Edit
I wanted to like this place. They had decent live music. I'm mostly raw but not many raw restaurants this side of FL so figured I'd give their vegan menu a try. Ordered the asian bowl. Veggies were not good. Rice was over cooked & bland. The whole thing had a dusty & chemical taste to it. Almost like one of the ingredients had been improperly stored & they microwaved it or cooked it in styrofoam. It was served scalding hot in a foil to go bowl. Not very healthy, taste was awful & I'm pretty disappointed that restaurants think they can serve vegans some wilted bland veggies on mushy rice & we are going to be ok with that. I've had better from chipotle & that ain't saying much😖

Cute atmosphere & snacks - Edit
To start we ordered the roasted olives and vegan pretzels with cashew cheese and mustard. The olives came with crackers and the dish itself was okay but a little under seasoned. The pretzels were much better- hot, fluffy and salty! For our entrees we split the Dahl Stew and Asian Cashew Bowl. The Dhal stew wasn’t great. It was bland and lacked any sauce so it wasn’t a stew at all, which left the white rice below it dry. The Asian Cashew Bowl was the best plate of the evening. The atmosphere was adorable and we were able to sit on the patio with our dog! Sadly they didn’t have any vegan dessert options and didn’t seem that willing to provide an option.

Many vegan options - Edit
I’ve eaten here a few times, and they have a dedicated page on the menu for vegan options. The roasted veggie sandwich was pretty good. The asian cashew bowl was the best thing I have tried there. But I found the Dip Trio to be boring and uninspired. Just some broccoli, cauliflower and bell peppers with a few ok dips (the black bean dip being my favorite). There were just some crackers and a small amount of pita bread. It def wasn’t worth the money. I was going to try the korean bbq jackfruit, but I didn’t see it on the menu last time I went. They may have replaced it with the Impossible meatball sub, which I didn’t try because I limit my intake of processed vegan junk foods. Overall, pretty good, especially if you are meeting omnis for a drink, but it’s nothing I would crave or go out of my way to eat. Also, the drinks are just beer and wine and are pricey.

Great local bar that serves food and inside their regular menu they have a special vegan menu with great options. Super nice place with live music every Wednesday and even has a terrace outside. Friendly service and very lively. I even went out of my way to thank the owner for the vegan choices and told him to keep it up.
