High Quality Options

I went to Kiln with some friends and was pleasantly surprised to see the wide variety of options clearly labeled on the menu. We ordered:
▪︎Roasted candy striped beets- I hate beets so it wasn't for me but my partner liked them a lot
▪︎Parisienne potatoes- omg the chipotle aioli was amazing everyone at our table was eating it with our fingers when we ran out of potatoes
▪︎ vegan corn spoon bread- i really enjoyed this, it was sweet without having too much jalapeño which i was worried about
▪︎ broccolini- fantastic, no notes
▪︎stuffed cabbage- I liked these a lot but $24 for 3 small rolls is too much

All of the food great, but I would love to see some larger dish options. There are about 4 or 5 for omnis but nothing more substantial for vegans.
Nice atmosphere and service was really amazing!

Pros: Lots of clearly labeled options, Wide variety of flavors and ingredients, Lovely staff

Cons: Some dishes were very expensive for a small dish

Elevated Vegan Dining Experience

Kiln opened this past October (2024). It is located in the Van Aken area and is one of Doug Katz’s restaurants. The space has an open feel. We ate upstairs, which I preferred because the downstairs main dining room is a bit on the loud side. They take limited reservations, with the rest being walk-ins. The first time we attempted to go was at 6:00 and had a 1 1/2 hour wait. We did not stay. The next time we tried 5:00 and lucked out! We had tried to get reservations both times but were unable. Moral of the story - book way ahead of time or go early!!

Eating at Kiln was a wonderful experience! The dishes are meant to be shared, which allows you to try so many different dishes. Our hands down favorites were the Bibb salad (which we did not expect to be so amazing), the spoon bread, the Parisienne potatoes (crispy outside and soft inside), the vegetable tian (beautiful presentation and so flavorful), and the stuffed cabbage (with kasha and eggplant and an amazing sauce).

Looking forward to our next visit when we will hopefully sample dessert too!

Pros: Wonderful dining experience , Decent amount of vegan options , Wonderful service!

Cons: Downstairs main dining area is loud
