Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian food restaurant operating since 1993; previously at other locations. Specify no dairy/ghee and kitchen will accommodate. Reported closed March 2022.
We went here for dinner and ordered a selection of veggie dishes. Everything we wanted was tailored for us with no ghee and no cream. The staff were excellent, the food was amazing, but was a little pricey.
I have dined here once and went for a dinner set. As I remember, it didn't exceed 99k/set, which included rice/naan, curry and some side dishes. It was enough for two people. The curry and naan were made for order as I didn't want dairy or eggs. I should come back to try other options.
We visited to get some masala dosas. On the website, they were advertised for 65k VND. When we turned up, the menu said 150k VND. We enquired, and they said the chef was away, so they hadn’t updated their new pricing.
We assumed tourist pricing and left.
We had potatoes in spinach sauce and an eggplant dish. Both were extremely salty(and I am the person who adds salt on everything). Otherwise they would have been pretty decent. Rice and naan were good. Also ordered a starter dish that we never got. The waiter didn't write our order down so I'm not surprised that this happened.
It took an hour to get food and a mocktail. Beer came straight away.
They also gave us wrong amount of change.
So not exactly impressed by this place. Very busy restaurant.
This place is a hidden gem, food was excellent & they prepared a special bread for me which is called is "Missi roti" which is gluten free, some of the breads have butter but it was avoided for my food, lost of choices for vegans. Although the service was bit slow but staff is friendly, dish number 36 to 58 & 93 to 135 there were many veg dishes, unfortunately i cant give them 5 starts here as they serve meat but this truly deserves a 5 star ranking, food is way far cheaper than other places, even with the taxes. Highly recommended.
I don't know if they really knew what I wanted when I said without butter and ghee. But it didn't taste like any of this and it was good. Intensive spices like indian food should be :)
Price was a bit high..
Very expensive and the worst Indian restaurant I’ve ever been... they add taxes to the bill!
The staff was very kind and professional so after our complaints they took off the malai kofta that I ordered.
VEGAN NAAN! The owner is Indian and if you make clear you are vegan they will happily accommodate you. The chickpea dish and potato spinach dish are especially good.
Saw a few good reviews so thought we’d give it a chance. I’m a chef myself so understand a bit about Indian cookery and could definitely do a better job
Waiter was patronizing and unhelpful when asking to make food without ghee instead of suggesting alternatives
Vegetable pulau burnt throughout. Rice over cooked and over seasoned. Not basmati but a difference rice used. Really disappointing
My friends rice was the same. The spices has been burnt and left a bitter taste throughout
Hair found in food.
Curry watery and not flavorful. No table checkback or comps hence this bad review.
Bill had a service charge added on and total was pricey for the area
We had a dal and bombay alloo, with rice and one poppadom. The dal and bombay alloo were delicious and had a lovely flavour. We asked for them to be made vegan and it was absolutely no problem. We were, however, expecting to get more than one poppadom as it was rather expensive and were a little disappointed by this. They also add a little service charge fee, which is worth knowing.
Two curries, a dal, and three drinks for $US18ish. All the food was very good with friendly service and a reasonable vegan range on the menu. Made a nice change from the usual Vietnamese fare.
Decent veggie food with a lot of options. After taking our order the waitress checked we were vegetarian, so they've clearly got a handle on avoiding animal products. The food was tasty and varied, and surprisingly light for Indian food; no loosening of belts and nauseous regret. If you want a variety of dishes, you will end up spending a fair bit (our bill came to about 430k) , and they do charge tax on top, which is a pretty big liberty. However, after endless meals of fried rice/noodles with vegetables, we were happy to spend extra on something a bit more exciting, They have a selection of dosas and rice dishes for under 100k, if you're not keen on breaking the bank, and a few thalis between 100k and 150k. A cut above the standard Indochina Indian restaurant, and definitely worth a visit.
A vast choice of nice vegetarian dishes. The tastiest of the three Indian restaurants we got to check out on our trip here. Also kind of nice interior and super friendly service with good English speaking capacities :)
Delicioussss dinner! The menu is so varied, just make sure to mention no ghee if you're vegan (our waitress didn't understand that word though so I just said Cook with oil and she got it!)
Will definitely go back again this week to try more of their food :)
Best meal in Old Quarters of Hanoi, Vietnam - Edit
Hi,
I was bit scared to go to this place after reading a bad review but its a hidden gem i found, its 23 years old restaurant and so many veg options were available at a very good price. I had my favorite Palak paneer with chapathi & nan bread. Drinks are also very reasonable, total meal cost me about 9USD and it was so much food.
Vietnam is a place where you can't imagine veg food in local restaurants and this is a great place for vegetarians. Just to add info :They have got 2 kitchen 1 for meat & 1 for vegetarians.
Loved this place, all 5 star from my side.

Firstly the address is incorrect. Your google maps showing the place is wrong as it seems the same for other places noted your using. Kazaana is NOT an ethical Vegan place. If they cook mutton and other dead animals why would you eat from same pots and pans? Who said they don't use ghee? Indian places DO use ghee, butter or/and lard. Why VEGANS supporting eateries that cook animals. Support Vegan run places. There are many around Vietnam.
Hi VeganVirtues, I've updated the map, please confirm. If you feel this place doesn't deserve to be listed please let us know.
Also, if you know of any other incorrect markers please be sure to tell us.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first meal at Khazaana. As a party of eight in which I was the only vegan, we found several delicious somethings for everyone at our table. Service was in English, courteous, and responsive. The atmosphere on a Saturday night was calm and relaxed, with easy lighting and a low hum of conversation.
The vegetarian section features tens of dishes from North and South Indian cuisine. Diversity didn't dilute flavors, and everyone left satisfied with their food and the reasonable bill: about 56 USD (1.17 mil VND).
Vegetarian entrees began at 70,000 VND with generous Naan at only 45,000 VND. Meat entrees ranged from 90,000 VND to over 200,000 VND. Drinks range from lassi to Coke Light, and water is available bottled or from the tap (it tasted fine).
I couldn't have asked for better Indian food, and I was delighted to enjoy it in the heart of Hanoi.
Kazaana has an extensive menu of both veg and non-veg dishes. They host a wide array of customers and can make select dishes vegan upon request. There's both north and South Indian cuisine in addition to some prix fix options which allow you to taste 5-6 dishes in addition to some naan and rice. The spinach and cheese kofta was excellent and consistent and their naan is terrific. My main complaint is that too many of their dishes revolve heavily around okra, potatoes, and onions.. none of which I terribly care for. There's 3-4 koftas, several masalas, and loads of other dishes but again, most of which involve those three vegetables. Also I found their food to not be spicy enough, even the okra dish that had three peppers beside it. Vietnamese food is quite bland, greasy and boring so perhaps they tone it down to appease this clientele. Prices are generally fair and service is anywhere from decent to great depending on who you get. Most of the servers are quite young and have their moments of being unprofessional.
At the end of our first meal here (I've been back since) the owner came by to introduce himself, ask how our meal was, and inquire about who we were and why we chose his restaurant. Nice fellow and clearly successful.
Entrees start at about 70000d, naan bread around 45000, and drinks are all over the place. Only restaurant in Vietnam I've found decent soda water at (Perrier) as well.
