I don't trust this restaurant any more - Edit

I live a block away from this restaurant and have eaten there four or five times. The last time, however, there was a piece of meat in my entree, which was in the vegetarian section of the menu and should have been vegan. It was a very small piece, and I chalked it up to the same pan being used to cook different orders, but I was nonetheless disturbed and had nightmares afterwards. That, by itself, would not have have led to a one-star review, but my spouse has been feeling sick for days, and I think that something he ate there upset his stomach. He said the soup he had, which we had previously been assured was vegan, tasted like it might have been made with chicken or fish stock.

This is now at least the fourth or fifth time in two years that I've had the experience of ordering something vegan at a non-vegan restaurant in Ottawa and receiving something non-vegan, such as butter or cheese made from cow's milk. This seems to happen in Ottawa much more frequently than in other places. I used to think that such incidents were innocent mistakes, but I'm starting to think that mentioning the word "vegan" to a server in Ottawa makes them want to play what they seem to consider a practical joke by serving something that contains an animal ingredient. Restaurants in Ottawa need to learn that feeding animal products to a vegan is as serious as giving someone food poisoning. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Khao Thai, and we will make an even greater effort to dine only at vegan establishments from now on.

Excellent repas - Edit

Excellent Rouleau de salade tofu et mangue avec sauce aux arachides.
Avons mangé sur la terrace mais bruyant à cause des voitures

Pros: Nourriture , Service , Prix très raisonnable

Cons: Bruyant sur la terrasse

Wow - Edit

I really didn't know what to expect coming here, but my aunt told me they had great food. She was right. The yellow curry I had was SERIOUSLY amazing, and it seems they can make almost all their vegetarian dishes vegan. They also have really cute outdoor seating in the summer. Highly recommend, especially if you are with non-vegans and still want a great meal.
