Superb starters

Great place with a full plant menu (although also serves meat). Small plates, mains, lunch specials
Onion bhajis are spectacular!

Pros: The Bhajis, Good service , The broccoli!

Cons: Mains great - but not as stand out as the starters

Really Excellent Food

Plant based menu available and a good range of superb, clean and delicious food.

The broccoli is fantastic as are the yellow lentils.

Wine is also marked as vegan which is really helpful.

The space is very stylish and well located.

Go here!

Pros: Very busy so book ahead, Delicious fresh food, Great location

Cons: Loud when busy, Wine is a little expensive

Birthday meal

Went to Khai Khai for my birthday meal and it did not disappoint. The tandoori broccoli is some of the best broccoli i have tasted and I consider myself quite a connoisseur of broccoli.
Brilliant options with two vegan curries and plenty of small plates to try. No faux meat if that is your kind of thing (which for me, it usually is but it was not missed in this meal). It is a bit pricey but there is set meals during the day and they often partake in NE restaurant week. It is absolutely worth a visit. Lush atmosphere and attentive staff with welcoming customer service.

Pros: Tandoori Broccoli., Atmosphere , Great vegan choices

Cons: Pricey, No faux meat options

Delicious

Several vegan options, even a vegan dessert. Lots of very attentive staff, great atmosphere. Note: if you order the gunpowder chips (marked as vegan) the mayo that comes with it is not vegan. Also the menu is smaller at lunch time, there is more choice in the evening

Bridge on the river Khai

Splendid place. The vegan menu isn’t just for show, they take plant based dining seriously here. An open kitchen at the rear with chefs surrounded by fresh ingredients and spices is quite a sight as you dash past down to the washrooms. We sampled the 2022 Veganuary restaurant week menu at £20. I was hugely impressed. Onion and samphire bhajis, saag aloo, spicy lentils, rice and naan bread. Utterly delicious. They have a more extensive vegan menu which I will explore another day. #Veganuary

Pros: Vegan menu , Nice interior , Very attentive staff

Like a special occasion

Really tasty food and memorable dishes. The broccoli from tandoori oven was the best! Enjoyed it all and would defo go back. We had 2 small plates, 2 smoke plates and 2 sides to come together and that was fine😄 The dips that came were great too especially a chilli garlic mayo with the gunpowder chips! Plenty of options on the menu for another visit as we can’t eat everything in one go!!!

Pros: The taste!

Cons: Drinks expensive , Felt slightly rushed to order drinks and food
