Super fresh food and cats cats cats everywhere - Edit
During our stay in Leipzig we went multiple times to the Katzentempel in the city centre. Everything is vegan and freshly made. The coffee is great and the cakes are delicious. There are different salads, burgers and breakfast options to choose from, savoury and sweet.

The place is very popular so sometimes you have to wait a few minutes to get a table.
Everything is set up for the cats to have comfortable baskets, scratching posts, runway, view points, escape routes etc. The whole set up is super relaxed and the cats (all rescues) are also loving it.
My favourite dishes were the scrambled tofu (best one I ever had) and you must try the peanut butter, it is out of this world, like a whipped creamy dream.

Very friendly staff & cats. Larger space, at least 50 seats inside. My bowl contained quite a lot plain salad. This is a nice café for cat lovers who are willing to pay for the friendly environment. Note that the kitchen may close at any point randomly so only cake is available then. Nice cakes. Good british breakfast, good coffee. Peaceful cats.

Hello Marty_mark, just to inform you the kitchen closed now always at 9pm (except Sundays, where they close earlier) . Before that, you experienced a thing called „betriebsbedingt“ (aka they close earlier as there are no customers and they would lose more money as they have to pay staff, which has nothing to do), which is a very common thing in German restaurants in „dry times“ during the week

"Ist das auch vegan?" Diese Frage kann man sich im Katzentempel sparen, da alle Gerichte vegan sind. Und dabei ist die Karte breit aufgestellt mit Speisen und Getränken. Bei den Heißgetränken lässt sich ein bisschen vegane Sahne nur empfehlen. Diese war so gelungen, dass sich die Nichtveganer am Tisch nur schwer von ihrer "veganheit" überzeugen ließen.

Wir sind mit dem Nachtzug in Leipzig angekommen und sind hier Mittagessen gegangen. Es war so lecker, dass wir auch direkt fürs Frühstück ein paar Tage später reserviert haben (allgemein guter Hinweis -> es ist meistens sehr voll). Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und die Auswahl sehr gut. Leider wollten sich die Katzen nicht streicheln lassen, aber das bin ich von daheim schon gewöhnt. Anders als bei anderen Katzencafes die ich besucht habe ist es ausgesprochen sauber und riecht nicht.

Read moreWir kamen unter der Woche recht spät abends ins Katzencafé und das war wohl der perfekte Zeitpunkt ❤️. Nur wenige Tische waren besetzt und alle Katzen waren im Sitzbereich unterwegs und neugierig auf die Gäste. Wir hatten so viel Spaß dort und die Zeit richtig genossen. Zu trinken bestellten wir zuerst eine heiße Schokolade und eine Würzschokolade dazu eine Portion Pommes mit Ketchup und Mayo - alles mega lecker! Danach bestellten wir noch den hausgemachten Apfel-Ingwer-Eistee und die Zitronen-Ingwer-Limonade, auch sehr lecker.
Der Service war suuuper lieb und schnell. Komme bestimmt wieder :).

We went to the café relatively late on a weekday, that was probably the perfect time ❤️. Only few people were at the tables and all the cats were in the seating area, curiously wandering around and playing. We had so much fun there and really enjoyed our time. To drink, we first ordered a hot chocolate and a spiced hot chocolate along with fries, ketchup and mayo - so good! Then we ordered the homemade apple-ginger iced tea and the lemon ginger lemonade, also very tasty.
The service was super nice and fast. I'll definitely be back :).

Enjoyed my visit here! Wide selection of food that are healthy and satisfying. If I recall correctly, I had the Vietnamese Style Banh Miau, coming with a nice salad. You can order to go, but of course, you're not getting the full experience if you're not dining in, with the cutie cats roaming and resting about. The restaurant is very clean too.

Worked fine, as we recognized most cats want to be by theirselves anyway and we mostly saw people coming over to them and trying to pet them, some got a little attack as answer 😅
The food is alright, not outstanding, but solid.
Therefore a too expensive (burger without fries around 15€).
The place in my opinion is especially for people / kids who can’t have, but love cats and are willing to spend some extra Euros for that.

Das Beste waren natürlich die Katzen, auch wenn sie sich alle hoch hinauf zum Schlafen gelegt haben. Da müsste man länger bleiben, damit man die Chance bekommt eine zu streicheln. Essen war sehr lecker, allerdings auch sehr teuer. Sehr ruhig und liebe Kellnerinnen.

Read moreTrotz Mittwochvormittag war es gut besucht, das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, das Essen absolut schnell da.
Mir hat gefallen, wie rücksichtsvoll das Personal mit den Katzen umging (sollte natürlich so sein, aber ist positiv) & die Einrichtung wunderbar katzenfreundlich ist, auch mal zulasten der Geräumigkeit der Sitzplätze. Die Katzen haben sich auch sichtlich wohl gefühlt - schön. Ein paar Verhaltenshinweise sind hinten in der Speisekarte vermerkt, z.B. nicht aufdringlich zu sein oder ohne Blitz zu fotografieren.
Das Frühstück war echt lecker und gut gemacht, der Beisalat z.B. nicht lieblos, sondern gut abgestimmt & der selbstgemachte Linsenaufstrich wirklich verblüffend nah an Guacomole.
Das wechselnde Kuchenangebot kann ich auch sehr empfehlen :)
Es war drinnen etwas zu warm zu meinem Besuch & die Preise sind vielleicht etwas höher als bei vergleichbaren Cafés - trotzdem würde ich für das gute Essen und zur Unterstützung der schönen Idee mit den Tierschutz-Katzen gerne wiederkommen.

The hot chocolate is really delicious and the staff was really friendly. My friend had a peanut butter and jelly bread and he said, it's the best one he ever had! The peanut butter was very creamy and delicious.
The cats are so cute and the black cat named Sirius is the fluffiest cat I ever touched!

We had a Beyond Meat Burger and a „Salmon“ sandwich both with a little salad aside. It tasted really good, the staff was very friendly and the cats were so cute. It was a bit expensive, but worth it!

First things first: I like the concept of the Katzentempel which was captured by this restaurant as well. Have coffee or eat food and be surrounded by cats (and have the option to pet them).
Read moreBUT: having visited other Katzentempels in the past, I didn't like it here as much. It felt way more crowded and less cozy. Granted, it was a busy friday afternoon, but still. I felt the tables and hallways were too narrow so it felt cramped. Since it was pretty busy--and loud--the cats had mostly retreated to their private spaces and couldn't really be seen much as well.
I liked the coffee, cake and burger I had. The fries were soaked in fat, therefore not very enjoyable. The statt was friendly but noticably stressed.
All in all, this felt like just another branch of a for-profit restaurant chain instead of the cozy vegan place I've learned to know and love Katzentempel as.
