Delicious - Edit
This place was awesome! Almost everything was vegan which was so nice to have so many options. I had the best scone of my life here and a really delicious juice. My boyfriend had a brownie that he devoured super quick and he best caramel soy latte he’s ever had. Would definitely recommend trying this place for a casual coffee and sweet, I wish I could go back to try more sweets!!!

Almost everything vegan - Edit
When I went there 80% of the cakes where vegan... and delicious ! The candy seems not to be vegan (beewax and flavours with not specified origins). I had cookies, zimtschnecke, cup cake and kind of shortbread everything was tasty even the cup cake which I usually don’t like.

Not fully vegan - Edit
They adverts themselves as "veggie", which I really do not understand. It is a vegetarian bakery (that is with milk, eggs, etc.) with some selection of vegan foods. When I got there, they were only few cakes left, only one of them labelled as vegan. Maybe normally they have more vegan options?
Read moreThey sells also some jelly beans, but still not vegan - without gelatin but with beewax. I hoped to pick some, as the selection was wide but I left the place with nothing.
Cons: not as vegan as advertised

Excellent dessert spot - Edit
Stumbled on this place and stopped in for an afternoon snack. We had (all vegan) cheesecake, lemon poppyseed bread, chocolate peanut bar with no sugar, and gluten free chocolate cake. Everything was fantastic, the cheesecake was tangy and creamy, the lemon poppyseed was bright, the chocolate bar was very rich, and the cake was frankly hard to believe it didn't have gluten, the texture was perfect.

Reasonable selection of vegan cake - Edit
They had about 4 vegan cakes or baked goods like scones. There was one vegan glutenfree chocolate-vanilla bundt cake which I had. It was a bit late in the day so it was a little dry, but it was nice to have at least 1 option and was quite tasty.

Perfect pick me up for shoppers - Edit
The Hackershe Market area of Berlin is a great shopping area so this cafe is ideally situated. There's no shortage of lovely vegan teashops in Berlin but you do often have to hop on a bus to get to them! I had a vanilla soy latte and a chocolate and avocado cake and both were delicious, the cake was so moist. Most of the baked goods were vegan but a warning! Katje sweets are rarely vegan, they are all vegetarian but most have a beeswax coating to give them a glossy finish. This coffee shop sells a large range of Katje sweets and merchandise but it's only the non glossy sweets that are vegan, such as the Swedish fish and the sour jellies - look out for 'bienenwachs' on the ingredients and avoid those products if you are looking for vegan sweets.

Cons: Most Katje sweets have beeswax

not many vegan options - Edit
When I visited the cafe at around 10am they only had one vegan option -an apple or rhubarbs cake- which is not my taste so I am not really able to say smth about the taste. It's a pitty that there weren't more vegan options cause the cupcakes looked delicious and the place is nice to sit down

surprisingly good find! - Edit
I worked at Hackescher Markt without ever realising this place existed - as another user wrote, the cartoon like aesthetic put me off so I never noticed they had vegan options.
Read moreHaving said that, the staff are lovely, the cakes are very good (especially the lemon poppy seed loaf), the cookies are fantastic, as is the fruit streusel, and they have free samples of their gummy sweets. They also have lots of un-vegan options so look at the labels before ordering

Best peanutbutter cookie ever! - Edit
The day I visited Café Grün Ohr, I didn't think there were many vegan options - about half of their cakes are vegan, but not the cupcakes and the brownies (and their chai-mix isn't vegan either). But because of another review from here, I tried the peantbutter cookie, and wow! I would come back only for this cookie!!
Read moreThey also have a machine that can make a candy piece formed/designed by you. According to their website it is 100% vegan. Pretty cool....

Small but nice selection of vegan sweet treats - Edit
Hi came across this coffee place by chance! Although I really wasn't attracted by their cartoon-like visual identity, I am glad I still took a pick at their selection of sweet treats.
Read moreThey serves a range of cakes/biscuits/candies, some vegan, some not. I got about 4-5 different (vegan) treats and they were all very tasty- even two days after buying them. I recommend the little marbled cake in particular!

Cafe Grun-Ohr is a very pretty cafe with a couple of tables to sit outside. As you go in there is a huge display of amazing cupcakes in front of you - Unfortunately these (and the brownies) are not vegan!

Vegan oasis at non-vegan tourist spot - Edit
Very friendly, small, clean café in the middle of main tourist spot "Hackescher Markt" where no other vegan cafés exist. Fine quality vegan shortbread, muffins, cookies, also some juices, cucumber water, etc. They also sell 'Katjes' gummy bears (small flagship store). Also lotsa non-vegan cupcakes. Two seats outside, around ten inside.

Best cinnamon roll you will ever have! - Edit
I randomly stumbled upon this little gem while I was exploring the city center of Berlin. Actually I wanted to check out the gummy bears, because Katjes is popular in Germany for their vegetarian products, long before the trend of veganism started. I found out that their gummy bears aren't vegan friendly, because all of them contain honey, but they offer a wide selection of pastries, which are mostly vegan! You should definitely try their peanut-butter cookies, they are delicious and melt on your tongue. My highlight are definitely the cinnamon rolls, which are so juicy and sweet that I wish for a second stomach, just to eat some more of them. ;)
