Great place! - Edit
I didn't expect to find an all vegan buffet in this town so it was a complete surprise! Food is very good and reasonably priced.

A vegan oasis! - Edit
In this region of Finland a vegan/vegetarian restaurant is like an oasis in a desert. It was worth planning my drive down south in eastern Finland so that I’d be in Kuusamo around lunch time to have their enjoyable buffet meal. Not just was this for my benefit but also a tangible gesture of support for an endeavour that needs our support to continue in business!
Read moreBy the way, I was told by one of the staff ladies that they no longer provide honey as an option to add as a sweetener for their dessert; so consequently it should more accurately now be reclassified as a vegan establishment.
Pros: That it is there!!! , Good value for money, 5 different flavoured water options!
Cons: Only open at lunch😒

Healthy vegan lunch - Edit
We used to live in Kuusamo for five years, and went there several times a week to have a delicious, nutritional buffet meal. A must when you visit Kuusamo! They use local produce from the forest and from their own garden.

Vegan restaurant - Edit
I went here with my non-vegan friends to get take-away food. They had a fully vegan lunch buffet with delicious beetroot patties, potatoes and carrots, and a salad bar. We came quite late so there was no soup left but we also got a chia pudding as a dessert. Can definitely recommend, we all liked the food :-)

Excellent lunch - Edit
Cozy place with simple but tasty vegan food buffet. Have few options of different salads and main dishes, bread. Dessert cake was bit dry, could have used something with it but otherwise good. Friendly service

Fresh and delicious - Edit
I went here with my meat-eating partner (who is happy to eat vegetarian) and my 12 month old son. I was skeptical on what the quality would be being so far North and not many restaurants around! I should never have worried. My son LOVED the soup, and we all loved how fresh the salads were and that the hot options were tasty and had some good protein options. The dishes all had different flavours. I would eat here again in a heartbeat! A must if you are tired of the same old food when on a road trip holiday.

Simple and fresh buffet - Edit
Karpalo (means cranberry in English) is an unusual find in such a small northern town. We had buffet food which included salads (quinoa-broccoli salad, beansalad, rice salad, sauerkraut), warm food (pasta, stroganoff, beetroot patties and white sauce), soup (beetroot soup with vegan smetana), bread, drinks and dessert.
Read moreThe food was simple, something like in traditional vegetarian restaurants and also pretty ordinary Finnish home food. Still they had some twists that school or home food does't traditionally have and it was way better.
The price of buffet was 10,50 euroa including soup, so the price was ordinary lunch buffet price, but the food was better and ingredients were better than normal.
Pros: Eat as much you want, Fresh food, Many dishes in buffet

Northern gem - Edit
I was so happy to get to visit this restaurant last summer. It must be one of the most northern vegetarian restaurants in the world. We ate hamburger and sandwich and they were both super delicious. They also serve a buffet-type lunch, but it's really nice that they have "burger menu" too. When you are visiting northern/eastern Finland, it's really nice to find a place like this!
