Serving gluten-free vegan comfort food at the market. Find pasta, pizza, soups, cabbage salads, burritos and wraps, mac n cheese. No peanuts or soy. Night market on Wed. Reported closed, Jun 2021.
I remember being in disbelief when I first saw the incredible menu at Karuna Foods. Not only is it ALL vegan but it is ALL organic and non-gmo, which is so uncommon now a days in restaurants and it tasted so delicious! It is by far my favorite vegan spot I have ever tried, they make the best soups and pastas but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
I am new to eating vegan and was so pleasantly happy to find Karuna Foods while on a vacation to the Big Island in Hawaii. Going to Uncle Robert's was a wonderful, festive experience and finding this restaurant was just wonderful! I ordered the pizza, which has homemade pizza dough made of brown rice/flax seeds and you can choose either homemade tomato basil or macadamia nut pesto for the sauce. It also has homemade coconut cream cheese and I had yummy toppings like red onion, black olives, and green bell peppers. So delicious and the owner, Kara, has the most beautiful art and jewelry for sale next to her restaurant. She is also a massage therapist in her private bamboo hut behind her restaurant kitchen, so I was able to get the best massage ever! Talk about a great time. Excellent meal, bought a bracelet and artisan mask, and had the best massage of my life! I plan to return again soon! Thank you, Kara, for your hospitality.
Nice food stall in a market. Went on a Wednesday night market. Lots of interesting things going on in the night market. The food was good. Oredered the burrito and the pot pie. Both were tasty. There is live music at the night market which is fun to have while enjoying the meal.
Delicious food. Loved the flavor combinations and portion sizes. The spot is very beautiful and if you go on Wednesday night the atmosphere is awesome.
Huge selection of homemade vegan dishes, non gmo and many are gluten free. I recommend one of the many pot pie options, and for dessert have the tea special which includes a vegan sweet treat. This is one of my favorite restaurants.
I see that they're open quite a lot, but I've only had them during Uncle Robert's Wednesday night market. The market seems much less busy, so less waiting when it first opens around 5pm.
I've enjoyed everything I've tried, especially a black bean soup.
Has a wide selection of homemade soup's, salads, pasta dishes, burritos/wraps, pies, pizzas and deserts. Has vegan cheeses. Food is tasty and good value for money. Can recommend.

Nice cozy place at uncle Robert’s in kalapana with vinyls and veggie food. They do however sell honey, even though they claim they’re vegan.

The cauliflower soup was nice but we also had a wrap which was bland and dry.
