Preiswerte vegane Optionen - Edit
Viele vegane Optionen und angemessener Preis, einige Gerichte (auch vegetarische, bspw. Königsberger Klopse) haben allerdings geschmacklich nicht völlig überzeugrn können. Die Sojastreifen wie Filet fand ich allerdings sehr lecker!

Enttäuschende Königsberger Klopse - Edit
Schön, dass es viele vegane Gerichte auf der Karte gibt. Die Königsberger Klopse kamen allerdings etwas lieblos angerichtet und wenig ansprechend daher. Die veganen Fleischbällchen waren einfach ein bekanntes Produkt aus dem Kühlregal. Die Soße war einfach nur wie pure Sahne. Der Kaperngeschmack hat in dem Gericht gänzlich gefehlt, auch wenn ein paar wenige Kapern in der Soße zu finden waren. Insgesamt war es leider enttäuschend und man könnte sicher mehr daraus machen. Das Bier war super.

Große Auswahl, wenig interessant - Edit
Die Speisekarte ist recht groß und deshalb gibt es auch eine ganze Seite für vegane Hauptspeisen. Leider ist das Essen an sich eher dürftig. Wir hatten die veganen königsberger Klopse und die Filet-Streifen. Die Klopse waren okay und sahen unappetitlich aus. Die Filets waren gut, und sahen ok aus.

Surprisingly large vegan menu - Edit
We had a night in Gõttingen on our train journey towards Kiel and was happy to find so many restaurants on Happy cow in the city. We picked Kartoffelhaus because we wanted to have some German food while in Germany and it turned out to be a great choice!
Read moreWe both had the Königsberger Soja Klopse, from the vegan menu, mainly because the waiter said it was a typical German dish. While waiting for the meal we googled on it and found out that it was actually meatballs. 😃 It didn't look very exciting on the photos, but it turned out to be an excellent choice! Very tasty sauce with capers and lemon (i think) and some of the best boiled potatoes I've had. I'll even try making it myself at home. Small salad on the side with nice dressing.
Being Saturday night, the place was quite full but we were lucky to get a (high) table.
We read on Happy cow that the vegan list of dishes would only be in the German menu, so we specially asked for it when we were given the English menu. The friendly waiter was kind to translate them. However, there are also some vegetarian dishes clearly marked in the normal menu.
Pros: Vegan menu with 8 dishes, Friendly staff and cosy place, Great location near train station

Brilliant selection of Vegan options! - Edit
Traditional German food in vegan form, had no. 33 creamy mushrooms and Soja strips, with hash browns. It wasn’t cheap but is was tasty. Will come back again to try more of the menu 👍

The restaurant offers a variety of versions of traditional dishes like „Königsberger Klopse“ but also Asian food and more. I was quite happy with my choice and so were my friends. Friendly staff, great service.

We chose this restaurant because from time to time my husband feels like eating some hearty German traditional food, and we are always on the lookout for restaurants offering a vegan version as that‘s not very common. Thus, we were looking forward to eating here due to the extensive vegan menu: Eight vegan main dishes plus more vegan options for starters and mains.
Read moreI chose the vegan patty with vegetables, soy sauce and sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the meal at all: It was oily and greasy to the point that all the taste was lost. I had to stop eating after a few bites. I must add, though, that this kind of German traditional cooking is not my favourite at all, although since going vegan I have been surprised from time to time. So it might be my personal taste and people who enjoy very hearty meals might like it more.
My husband chose the mock meatballs with potatoes, a creme sauce and salad. He enjoyed it because it‘s the kind of food he used to love, but he agrees that it was too greasy.
I think the food might be enjoyed by people who like really hearty and proper food, but not by those who have a sensitive stomach or simply like a fresh and natural taste.
Apart from that, the experience was nice: The interior is traditional and cozy and the staff were very friendly.

Large choice, nice atmosphere - Edit
I first thought that I would have only one Vegan option on the menu as the restaurant does not display its Vegan meals on the English menu ... However, a full page of Vegan meals is on the German menu. I took the "Sojastreifen wie Filet". The meal was copious although there were way too many mushrooms and not enough potatoes but the side dishes coming with the meal were nice and overall, I enjoyed it.

Tasty veganized German food - Edit
In comparison to the many places that provide salads and bowls as a vegan option, the vegan food offered here is quite savoury and a more dense meal. Staff is very friendly!
