Nice bar/restaurant in downtown Tokushima - Edit
I found this place because of its new happy cow entry. There aren't many places to eat out as a vegan in this city so I asked my friends to try it out with me. Thank you Mervin for agreeing to make the vegan burrito off the menu, it was delicious! I hope to go there again! よろしくお願いします！

Off the menu vegan meal - Edit
I didn't notice how late it had gotten and really needed to find some food. Saw Alex's review and hoped Marvin would be willing to make some vegan food. After he got over the shock of being known as a chef that will accommodate vegans, he rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
Read moreWe got a salad, chips and guac, a skillet dish, spicy potatoes, and a burrito. Marvin made everything fresh, crispy, flavorful, and he was very resourceful. The salad came topped with crispy onions for an added crunch. He made sure the burrito wrapping was nice and toasty, so it held together. Chips were crispy. Potatoes were nice and spicy, and we loved the added cilantro. And last, but def not least, the skillet inspired by a Filipino dish. Spicy and a little sweet, with toasty tortillas. Marvin also created some flavorful highballs for us.
Note: Cash only, but there's a convenience store with an atm nearby.

Mervin was a great host and fun to chat to!
Read moreWe had tortilla (deep fried!) and salsa followed by a veg and a non veg Burrito which was super delicious and a quesadilla to finish it all off.
Food was super nice and Mervin speaks great English. So you can tell him all your dietary requirements. He very much understand about veganism and vegetarianism and as the food is freshly made you can tell him what you want.
He also offered to do things which were not on he Menu.
They have an amazing tequila selection and corona etc.

Unfortunately like in most places in japan it’s a smoking restaurant.
Would definitely recommend!!!

Meant to leave this reply earlier, but about a month ago we were in Tokushima late at night. I read your review and basically just hoped Marvin could make some vegan food or we were probably going to have some more rice balls from 711. He was hilarious, I walked in and I told him I heard he could make vegan food, he goes "WHO SAID THAT??!" "Alex...?" I showed him your review and he remembered you and told me he read up a bunch more on vegetarians and vegans afterwards. Made us an amazing meal. Thanks reviewing it!
