In the WITS student centre, this take away restaurant has queues that as long as the centre itself at lunch time for its inexpensive vegan curries. Go before the rush at 1:15pm or after the rush from 2:15pm. Reported that samoosas have cheese, Oct 2014. Open Mon-Fri 11:00am-5:00pm.

Cheap and yummy - Edit
Not for everyday consumption, surely one needs to consume some greens and nutritious vegetables daily too, but for a quick meal in between classes, Kara Nichha's is a favourite and so easy on the wallet. There is quite a large variety of options for vegans, veggies and thrifty students at this tiny little takeaway counter in The Matrix Student Centre, which is more than I can say for student centres at other Johannesburg Universities.
Pros: cheap, filling, yummy
Cons: heartburn for post graduate students, queues
