Kanu Cafe

I loved this restaurant when it was Kanu Cafe. The food options were amazing and so was the food.

I was very disappointed to find out they turned into a pizza joint.

This was a unique restaurant that was inventive and ahead of the rest as far as vegan dining goes. Now it's a boring pizza joint.

Pizza was OK

The food here was amazing when it was Kanu Cafe, but now it is Doppio zero pizza and the menu is completely different. Honestly the pizza wasn't that great, better than panago, but I prefer Die Pie.

Good for a fancy date

Restaurant needs work for sure but it is good. We went for Valentines and had the special menu. Everything was good and a very things were very good. The staff is lacking a bit for a higher end establishment. And the seating is way to cramped!

Pros: All vegan, Unique options, Fine dining

Cons: Expensive , Too cramped, Not put together yet

Pizzas mostly

Very delicious pizza! Pasta so so and only one kind which to me was a little spicy (i cant tolerate any spicy). Pressed juice was delicious too

Pros: Only vegan options, Pizza best in Edmonton so far, Kid friendly

Cons: Downtown are so no parking , Only one pasta option

Good food, bad lighting

Food was good. Smaller portions, which means no waste. However, the lighting was bad. It was incredibly bright on a Thursday evening. Gave the vibe of a cateferia. Please put a dimmer on! Chairs are plastic; something more refined would have been nice.

Delicious and filling

Got a couple things to share: Brussel Sprouts, Jackfruit Tacos, Spicy Udon. Everything was delicious. The sprouts could have used a little more Flavour but we really enjoy this and the desserts were amazing while not feeling overly sweet or terribly unhealthy.

Pros: Entirely plant based, Great variety, Amazing flavor

Cons: A little expensive

vegan dining “fine and flavourful”

Amazing dishes. Flavours have excited the taste buds...
If you have a vegan date, this is the place to take them, but I am confident non-vegans would love these flavours as well.
Only visiting this province, but would be back on any other visit. Need to spread the amazingness...

Pros: Modern decor and friendly staff, Reasonably priced for food quality, Delicious

OMG Amazing

To start the black truffle cheese plate was amazing and the taste profile across all the dishes was sophisticated. We ordered the beet sliders, spicy Udon noodles and the plant bowl and all were delish. Highly recommended!!

Brilliant!

We were in Edmonton for a meeting and found the description intriguing. We were not disappointed! Wonderful flavors, unique presentation, friendly waitstaff, they had it all. In fact, we were so pleased that we went back for a second meal the next night. Why look around when you have found perfection.

Amazing, delicious, healthy & affordable

We were passing by and decided to stop in for dinner and were not disappointed!

The food was delicious, fresh and wholesome. Compared to a similar standard restaurant back home it was very affordable.

The service was also very good and we were lucky enough that Sherry, the owner, was there and we got to meet and talk to her.

Pros: Wholesome and delicious , Affordable , In downtown

The food was fresh, and delicious, and the space was lovely🌱

Im visiting Edmonton, and wish I could eat here again and again, the food was great and staff was knowledgeable and eager to ensure you knew what was what on the menu. Can’t wait to try the nachos next time 🤤

Pros: Lots of options , Great atmosphere , Delicious food

Lovely gourmet food!

Beautiful dishes with colourful fresh ingredients. Love the spicy cashew udon noodle dish, kimchi dumplings, bread with cultured coconut butter. Terrific smoothies! Decadent raw cheesecake. Very nice atmosphere. Great date spot

Great atmosphere and fulfilling food!

Kanu was a wonderful all around experience which begins with your server. Our server had a great memory of the friend I went with, who had gone once previously, and interacted with both of us often and was eager to get feedback from us at the table. She was great.

We split the cheese platter, lasagna, and cheesecake. The flavours of everything are incredibly vibrant from fennel crackers with the three variations of cheeses, to the pistachio pesto on the lasagna.

If I were to have my way, the lasagna would be warm, but I still found it delicious and a unique dish I certainly haven't had before.

The atmosphere of Kanu is part of its charm, with the kitchen open and visible from most of the restaurant. It's enchanting to watch the chefs work their magic.

The cheesecake was the highlight of the visit. The base of it being made with pistachio was a deliciously genius idea. I could see myself going back just for a coffee and cheesecake date!

Pros: Fresh, local ingredients, Friendly, knowledgeable staff, Creative and unexpected flavours

Cons: Higher end / Expensive
