Weird - Edit
Awkward service. Not particularly clean or charming place. Food was good but wouldn't go back due to overall experience. Think most of their business is from video poker, but have only visited once.
Read morePros: Large portions/reasonable prices, Plenty of vegan friendly options, Easy parking
Cons: Service wasn't friendly or attentive, Dirty restaurant/cobwebs/clutter, Vegan food wasn't clearly marked

Tasty food, a little confusing ordering - Edit
I'll start by saying the tofu and mushrooms and springrolls i ordered were delicious! Now the confusing portion of the experience: They have the word "vegan" on the front of the menu written as some of their offerings and I certainly didn't doubt it but each item isn't labeled as vegan, or "can be made vegan" etc. The wait staff didn't seem completely knowledgeable or confident in the ingredients or status of the items on the menu. There is a dedicated vegetarian/vegetable section on the menu however so I ordered off of that. Was told the lo mein probably had egg so I played it safe and didn't order that. But the general tso's tofu and sautéed mushroom dishes were delicious as was the spring rolls.

Odd but enjoyable - Edit
Bit of an odd restaurant as stated in previous reviews, however there were plenty of veggie/vegan options. I wouldn’t say it’s the BEST Chinese I’ve had, but it was enjoyable! The staff weren’t great at answering our questions and caused some odd interactions but were still friendly.

Bizarre but in a good way - Edit
Arriving here the first thing we noticed was the decor; lots of aquatic art and fluorescent lights. Then the gambling machines hidden subtly in a back room by the toilets, coupled with an art sale area in another corner.
Read moreOnce seated we asked about the vegan options and were told that most of the veggie menu could be made vegan. So we decided on two tofu dishes, spring rolls, and a spinach dish. They were actually very nice, which did surprise us considering the impression the building had given.
The entire encounter comes together to make a very peculiar but quite tasty dining experience. I’d rather this kind of character to a restaurant than a cookie cutter, boring and mundane look of many chain restaurants. So I’m all for it!
Pros: Versatile vegan menu, Tasty food, Friendly and unique staff
Cons: Strange decor, Half restaurant half art shop

Good Vegetarian/Vegan Menu - Edit
Pleasantly surprised to find they had a solid designated vegetarian/vegan menu. They were very generous with the amount of tofu in each dish, everything was very flavorful. Super friendly, big portions.

Love love the coast!! - Edit
Kam Meng chinese restaurant served some of the best vegetarian food ever! It has improved a lot since moving on agate beach, by the gulf course- (you won't miss the colors). It is the locals favorite place to eat, and mine. Their prices are average but the food and service always outstanding. They even use gluten free soy sauce for the cooking. I love their vegetables, always fresh and crispy. I told the owner, and the owner said there was at least 20 varieties of fresh vegetables to choose from, even organic. I have been a regular for Kam Meng's for most of the time I've visited Newport. And the food is always what you expect: excellent. I recommend the special pumpkin pot w/ tofu and vegetables, green bean with bbs, garlic spinach, oh and the tofu with eggplant. They have a LOT to choose from.. I always eat with their brown rice (the healthier choice), My husband (whom is not a vegetarian) favors the seafood, and recommends the seafood pot.
