Excellent breakfast sandwich - Edit

The breakfast sandwich with housemade sausage patty and tofu egg on a biscuit was incredible. Make sure to get it on a biscuit. Sausage is spicy, be warned. Served with tater tots - yes please!! Cheese is daiya; I declined. Coffee is Awesome, wish they had different creamers tho. So nice to have all plant based ones but they were all of the sweet variety - would love ripple or something more plain.

Got a donut too, which is why I knocked a star off the review. It wasn't awful but it sadly wasn't great either. It was small and $3 for one. The taste was good - they got that down, no problem. It was the consistency. They might be baked, which is fine in general, yet wholly detrimental to the donut experience. And it was dense, like a bread instead of a donut. I feel like they fall into that trap of things not having to be amazing because at least they're vegan. I don't accept that - it should be vegan AND awesome:-). Raise the bar!

The other baked stuff looked great - breakfast pizza was like foccacia with breakfast toppings - a great idea. They had bags of cookies and such for sale too. If I had more $$ I'd have tried more.

Also, a side note because it did bother me. Owner is not Hawaiian. Use of the Hawaiian names and decoration is yet another way we (white folk) co-opt parts of indigenous cultures for our own profit. I'm sure owner means well but, well, that's what everyone says. I've lived in Hawaii; it's not ok, albeit completely normal sadly.

Pros: All vegan, very friendly welcoming staff

Cons: donuts aren't great

VictoriaSgro 11 Apr 2018 - Aloha, I am so glad you enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. Thank you. The donuts are a cake donut that are baked. They are not the same as a yeast fried donut. We also use mostly organic ingredients and why our prices are a little higher.
I am the owner and actually Kama'aina not Kanaka. I never claimed to be Hawaiian, but I am from Hawai'i. And have roots there still. So it makes me sad that you would add this into a review that I am using the Hawaiian Culture to make a profit. I am very much of the land and the ocean and that is why I have made the colors and decor of my cafe just that.
Hope fully we will have you back for some more great breakfast.

Some of the best food I've ever had. - Edit

Everything at this place was amazing. My kids and I tried a bunch of different things (potato salad, eggless deviled eggs, thanksgiving turnover, and donuts) and loved it all. We had to go back up and get a few repeats because it was so good. Definitely recommend giving them a try!

Pros: All vegan, all delicious!

Cons: none

Good eats - Edit

I stumbled upon this place the other day by accident while driving down South Plaza Trail and I stopped in to try it out. I was greeted by a very friendly staff that were both helpful and informative on the items they had available. They gave me a sample of a vegan deviled egg and it was absolutely delish the taste was well balanced and the hint of paprika on top and the texture was spot on with firmness and creaminess I'm new to vegism and before I went vegan deviled eggs were a huge favorite, so for this one to be so close to the non vegan was amazing that i can still enjoy. Then I noticed a seven layer raspberry lemon layer cake in the display case and they gave me a sample slice of that and it was mouthwatering. I went home with a giant slice that was very generously portioned for the price. Even the customers in the store were friendly and engagingly conversant. It was like a family atmosphere on top of delisious bakery treats I will definitely make this place a regular stop from now on!! Thanks for bringing good healthy bakery products to the area.

Pros: Extremely friendly staff , Great prices on items , Fabulously delisious food

Cons: That it hasn't been here longer

Excellent!!!!!!!!! - Edit

Kahiaus is vegan heaven!!! The mac and cheese, pineapple cream cheese danish, and focaccia bread were sooo delicious. I could hardly believe that it was vegan! Also the owner is so sweet and makes everything from scratch every day! This place is a must try if you are in the VA beach area.

Disappointing Not fresh - Edit

This was the first time Ive ever come here and the last! There is a certain number of precooked dishes that are offered and a variety of baked sweets/pastries/etc. I ordered a kale orzo chickpea soup and the macaroni and cheese dishes. One of the employees had heated up on the stove top yet it was still cool when I ate it. The taste of both was ok I could tell that this food was not recently made. The mac and cheese had an weird taste that almost bordered on turning (spoiling). I then ordered a sticky bun to go since they have beautiful displayed sweets. Boy was I disappointed and a little peeved when I got to my destination and went to taste my sticky bun...it was as hard as a rock! It was stale and the taste mirrored the texture. I remember the chef talking about some catering events that she had done the weekend prior and she created this weeks menu based of those extras. I suspect that those prepackaged meals and definitely that sticky bun where there for a few days. Wont be coming back to this place I spent almost 15 bucks for a bad meal. Unfortunately I was on limited time so didnt address my food dissatisfaction.

Pros: everyone here is super friendly and especially the

Cons: Stale baked goods, Food is NOT fresh
