I have had some good and some bad experiences. - Edit
I have gone for the buffet, and the first time I went the waitress was very excited to show me the vegan options. She said they had recently changed all their vegetarian options in the buffet to vegan. The next time I went, the man I spoke with was visibly annoyed by my question but still showed me a couple things in the buffet that were vegan. I have gone some other times and ordered from the kitchen, which was fine. The food is pretty good, but I would say India pavilion usually has better Indian food for vegans.

Tasty and I Really Like Their Serving Style! - Edit
I think their food is quite tasty! They are very willing to make our food vegan!! I really like how they serve your food in a bowl and give you a plate as well - it lends very well to sharing - which my husband and I usually do!!! Why try one dish, when you can try two, right? 😉

Underwhelming flavor, but friendly and cheap - Edit
Only been to Kaarma once, i’m pretty devoted to Indian Pavilion (IP). But the one time I did go, you get great smells on the outside of the building walking but, but the flavor of the dishes (Saag Paneer specifically) was underwhelming.

Cons: Not as good flavor as IP

Good Indian Choices... - Edit
Overall have had good experiences here other than the server had difficult time understanding my questions about the dishes. Not much stood out positive or negative - which is fine because I'm just glad there are Indian options in State College. I'm not sure why it there isn't more business in this place. As previous reviews noted do need to specify no cream. Have had better vegan experience here than at India Pavillion which seemed to have a lot more meat dishes if memory serves me correctly.

Great food, limited timings for vegans - Edit
Kaarma has some great vegetarian dishes which they will happily make vegan for you(just specify "no cream or dairy"). If you want bread, order "roti" which is completely vegan; "naan" uses dairy products. Kaarma uses fresh ingredients and the dishes are not as oily and heavy as other North Indian restaurants. Try the 'mushroom muttar (peas)' or the "Bombay aloo (potatoes)" or chickpeas dish. Portions are large and prices are low. The only complaint that I have is if you're vegan, you can only go for dinner, because for lunch Kaarma only serves buffet, and all the dishes have cream pre-mixed.
