Hawi and Kapaau have very limited grocery options. After trying the store in Hawi and finding absolutely nothing to add to home-prepared meals at the rental, we went into K. Takata. It took a little searching, but we found frozen sprouted vegan bagels, fruit-only spreads, local mac-nut butter, and plenty of beverages. I rated the store 4 stars for the number and spread of options in relation to the area. In a pinch it had all we needed, though it is probably best to also bring food as well if traveling to Hawi and Kapaau from other areas with natural food stores.
