Beautiful spot

Beautiful spot but only one vegan dinner option when I was there and that was a vegan lasagna with Beyond Beef which I’m not much of a fan of. Big serving. The lemon poppy seed tahini for the salad is also vegan and it was delicious! I also noticed two vegan pie options. Berry and apple.

Update: We came on Thanksgiving day and It was a FULL house with a line almost out the door. I thought the wait would be long because of the amount of people there. NOPE! They had my plate ready within minutes and still at good quality. I am so thankful for the hard-working staff on Thanksgiving day. 🍽️🤎

Great vegan option

While there was only 1 vegan option for dinner it was a Lentil and Mixed Mushroom Pot Pie with Brussel Sprouts (Friday Night). They release their menu on their FB page so keep an eye on that! We absolutely loved the dinner. Big serving but cooked to order.

Delicious

The menu keeps changing, but there's always a vegan option available. I had a cauliflower steak with roasted carrots and saffron rice, which was very delicious.

Very thankful this exists

June Bug Cafe at Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort is a blessing for vegan traveling out in the Yosemite area! They offer vegan options at every meal including baked goods. We quite enjoyed our dinners here. Breakfast was lacking a bit in menu options but i overhead a cook telling another patron that he could make him a tofu scramble (which was not on the menu); so the staff seemed knowledgeable and helpful!

Our Apple pie was a couple days old and not so great in my opinion but my husband loved it, so 🤣🤣👍

Nonetheless, we were super glad this cafe exists and would stay here again thanks to the options!

Pros: Vegan options in the forest! , Clearly marked and knowledgeable staff, New menu offerings each day for variety

Cons: Limited options per meal, Pastrie options are nice but not always fresh, More breakfast options would have been lovely

Yosemite pit-stop

If you are driving to Yosemite Valley or rafting at Zephyr just across the highway, stop at the June Bug Cafe and let their friendly staff prepare you a vegan delight! Tiny Midpines isn’t necessarily a place you would expect to find a cafe with a solid vegan menu, so the June Bug is a pleasant surprise.

True story: Best meal I éver had!

This meal was like an oasis in a desert, where we spend days hunting down vegan food, here at the June Bug Café in Midpines, CA (close to Yosemite) it is simply readily available. And it was DIVINE. I wanted to award this meal with SEVEN ⭐️s but the Happy Cow will not let me rate it higher than 4. Thank you dear cook, for preparing the stuffed zucchini from heaven ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pros: heavenly tastes, portion size, after 5 minutes meal was ready

Cons: The looks could be improved

Lovely atmosphere; delicious food

We stopped in here on our drive home from Yosemite. We arrived just in the time slot when the kitchen was transitioning from breakfast to lunch. We tried to order breakfast but were told breakfast was over and we needed to wait until lunch was served. 40 minutes was too much for us to wait so we headed out the door, disappointed.
The chef reconsidered, and came out from behind the counter to offer to make an exception and cook us a special vegan breakfast. Little did she know, it was my birthday, and she had just made me the happiest birthday girl in the world!
We sat down at the couches in front of the fireplace, and were served the most delicious tofu "egg" scramble! Black beans, vegan sausage, vegan cheese, greens, a hot and delicious taste combination in a bowl, with warm tortillas on the side.
The young man serving, as well as the chef, were so personable and delightful and treated us so nicely!
I highly recommend this place (came up as June Bug Cafe on the google search) for any vegans who find themselves in the Yosemite/Mariposa area.
Service and food - 5 stars!

Pros: Delicious vegan options, Service with a smile, Beautiful atmosphere

Cons: Animal head trophies on walls

Not great, but the beast option in the area

Food is good but not a lot of options for dinner. I saw in their menu that they have more options for lunch but it's only until 2pm..

Tofu katsu

Great place to stay at close to Yosemite Valley. There's only one vegan option for each meal but everything's tasty. The dinner I had was tofu katsu with rice and some kinda sauce - yummy 😋 Also had the vegan quesadilla for my backpacking trip and it was still kinda tasty after sitting in my pack for a day...

I didn't see the vegan cake mentioned in the description but also didn't know to ask for it. Super cozy rustic atmosphere (well, except the animal heads indoors)

Be careful- great nightly vegan option but “vegan” packed lunch not all vegan

Delicious nightly vegan dinners. Careful of vegan packed lunch- they knowingly put in dairy chocolate in but mix and regular cookies. I went back and asked for the vegan option and they said they knew these bits weren’t vegan and we hunted for an alternative (some clif bars for sale are vegan).

Pros: Great differently nightly vegan option, Alternative milk out and readily available , Great setting

Cons: Not all staff are vegan savvy

amazing food defo worth a visit!

I booked this hostel because I knew they had vegan options, and they really deliver! They have a vegan breakfast option although I didn't have this. I had a vegan pesto pasta for lunch and was delicious. Washed down with the hibiscus tea which is 2 dollars and unlimited refills! You also get 15 percent off your stay and food and drinks here if you arrive by public transport and don't drive! I also had a vegan sweet corn risotto one day and curried veg and rice another day, also lots of choice of snacks and chrisps etc friendly staff and great music! Although There is a stuffed deers head on the wall and real insect decor which doesn't match the food. Great staff and music and board games too, bonfire and music several nights.

Pros: changing menu for dinner , variety, fresh local grown veg

Cons: decor of stuffed animals
