Unglaublich tolles Café 🥰

Die Besitzerin ist sehr nett und das Essen qualitativ hochwertig. Besonders der hausgemachte vegane Käse ist toll! Das Tomate-Mozzarella-Focaccia ist ein Traum 🌱

Amazing vegan pastries, but the space could feel warmer

I recently visited Julie’s Café, a vegan café with very friendly and welcoming staff. While the service was excellent, the café itself felt a bit too small and somewhat sterile. Even though there was art on the walls, the interior could benefit from a softer, cozier touch.

I tried a hazelnut bun that was absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and one of the best I’ve had. I paired it with a kombucha, which was nice but a bit too flat for my taste. I tend to prefer kombucha with a bit more sharpness and fizz.

We were also offered a taste of their blue cheese with some crackers, and it completely surprised me—it was the best vegan blue cheese I’ve ever had. I’ve never really liked blue cheese before, but this one really changed my mind.

They were also selling pralines during our visit, which may have been a guest appearance, adding a fun and unique touch to the experience.

Pros: Exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, Delicious pastries, especially the hazelnut bun, Outstanding vegan blue cheese

Cons: Small space that can feel a bit cramped, Small space that can feel a bit cramped

Delicious mushroom soup

Food was simply amazing! The mushroom soup was the best I've had! The rhubarb crumble was delicious but needed to be hot... it was cold in parts.

I highly recommend! My first meal in Sweden 5* but for the lukewarm dessert.

Unfortunately no hand wash or toilet.

Pros: Mushroom soup was delicious , Rhubarb crumble portion and taste , Lots of desserts

Cons: No toilet, limited hot options , Lukewarm rhubarb crumble, One of my cake was missing - she made a replacemen

Great pastries

10/10 pastries that are actually traditional! A cute little space to have a coffee and people watch out the window.

Serendipity

I loved whatever I tried there! To find vegan croissant and pain au chocolat is serendipity!

Her savoury dish was also tasty.

I also got the parmesan for home and it was great too.

Great

Great place to buy vegan cheese or pastries to go. Also used them for catering once and they offered amazing wraps!

Edit dec 2024
Had the privilege of enjoying catering from Julie again. We had a beautiful Smörgåstårta and yummy broccoli cheese patties, all vegan and gorgeously delicious.

Went back for a Christmas brunch and lussekatt and the cafe is so beautiful nowadays. It's a really good place to hang out and Julie is so sweet!

Fantastic , especially the home made cheese

I visited last weekend and apart from a very friendly welcome the food was excellent. I got there a bit late but they let me stay to finish my food. The pizza, ham and cheese toaste and croissants were all fantastic. I was especially interested in the home made cheese .I took home some Camembert and it was excellent I’ve finished it already. Thank you Julie I hope to return some day on my travels .👍

Pros: Homemade vegan cheese , Friendly welcome , Fabulous croissants

Cons: Nothing to dislike

Soooo tasty!

Incredibly tasty! I loved the smörgåstårta - as a vegan tourist I haven‘t been able to try a lot of typical Swedish foods before.
Also had a tasty quiche and a pain au chocolate 😋

Pros: Tasty food!, Atmosphere

Cons: Too many great choices! 😂

Friendly & Delicious

I had the quiche of day (sundried tomatoes and olives), which included a beetroot salad, and a herbal tea. I paid the equivalent of 10.33 € for it. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly.

Pros: delicious, friendly and welcoming, cost

Cons: No toilet

wonderful

We went to Julie's café for the Easter brunch and loved everything we had - both sweet and savoury. It was hard to decide what to go for as everything looked so delicious. My absolute favourite was the brioche french toast - heavenly!
I'd recommend booking a table in advance.

Pros: kind owner, delicious food

Vegan gem

Went to Julie’s for lunch on a Tuesday. My wife and I split her vegan stew, potato quiche and had a cheese plate. The stew was sooo good. Large chopped veggies and broth was delicious. The woman knows her pastry, the pastry on the potato quiche was flaky and tasted like my grandmother made. The artisan cheeses were also amazing. I could “taste” the bleu cheese in my nose, which I love. Her Parmesan is slightly soft and “nutty”. My wife proclaimed it the best she’s ever had. We rounded out the meal with chocolate and almond croissant. Again, magnificent- the woman knows her pastry. Left with big smiles and a bag of takeaway goodies for the train.

Loved it

Julie sells a lot of handmade vegan cheese and other very tasty looking snacks and pastries. I had a slice of chocolate cake which was extremely tasty. I also ate a toast with vegan cheese an vegan ham as well as a traditional swedish christmas dish with potatoes and other greens. Everything was very tasty. I'm definitly coming back! :))

⭐️ Smörgåstårta ❤️

This cute place is a must visit if you are in Gothenburg. It's a small café located in Majorna, run by a wonderful french woman named Julie.

She makes the most amazing "smörgåstårta" you can get. Something that is really hard to find a vegan version of. Don't miss the chance to try it.

Everything tastes amazing, the only real downside is that I don't live closer...

Pros: Smörgåsrårta, Croissants, Julie

Cons: Too far away from where I live

Awesome!

Go there.

Julie herself (?) - really friendly.

Delish croissant and BLT. Cheese plate also awesome. Thought everything was 7 /10. Overall experience 10/10.

Best figs and orange yellow small fruits that I’ve had and she made me a special salad when I asked for it.

Cute place

I went here in the morning with my girlfriend to try it, and it is a lovely place. Small and wholesome, and the owner does the work herself.

I had an omelette, which looked more like a pancake and was quite dry. More like a 3/5 stars. But my gf had a bagel with egg salad, and that was amazing. I tried the baguette with smoked tofu bacon as well, and it was great. Everything would have been better with fresh bread though. Bought the cheese reminiscent of camembert, and it was alright.

Cute place and owner.

No outdoor seating.

Delicious

We took the tram here, only to visit the cafe, and as several have already written, it was small, with few seats, but SO good pastrys! We bought with us, and just a few minutes walk from there you get down to the water, we went there and sat down and enjoyed! Good and filling almond croissant!

A mix between Swedish and French

This is the best lunch spot in Gothenburg! It's tiny with only a few tables and a tram ride away from the city centre, but the trip is so worth it!

Julie makes an amazing smörgåstårta which balances the heavy cream like texture with freshnes from herbs, fruit and veggies and tastes from the sea. There are also soups, juicy quishes that are true umami bombs and sandwiches. And of course there's desserts. The selection seems to vary, but when we visited there was a good mix between Swedish style baked goods and French patisserie.

Remember to ask her about cheese, as she tours Northern Europe with her vegan cheese making classes and may have some in her cafe!

We visited during pride in Gothenburg. While Sweden is a very LGBT friendly country, I felt really welcomed as a visibly LGBT person. There was true warmth, no pink washing, with some pride party decorations and a notice that the cafe would be closed during the parade.

Pros: So tasty I considered moving to Gothenburg

Woowwwwww

This place!!! Wowwwwww!!! Such a cute little hidden place. But worth the visit.
I ate something i never had before. Something like a sandwich/ cake very Swedish . With egg filling and some tofu. It was very good!! And big portion.
The owner is very nice to have a chat with. I took a croissant and a cheese pastrie thing to go. It was also very good and tasty. The croissant was amazing, didn’t had a good one in a while.
Go to the toilet before you go here. There was no toilet and I had to search for one in the neighborhood.
