Incredible vegan food - Edit
We got the “lobster” chowder, fried egg sandwich, huevos rancheros and donut bites. The food seems fresh and healthy and doesn’t feel like you’re eating ultra-processed imitation meat and dairy. Go here!

Started with cauliflower wings, spicy yet tasty. Ordered a California pizza also tasty. My friend ordered tamale pie, was okay. Everything on the menu can be made vegan.

Amazing vegan options - Edit
I had the tamales and oh my goodness it was tasty. The beans and rice that came with it made the whole dish even better. I also had the crispy mushrooms with the blue oyster mushrooms and they were delicious! The staff was very kind and the bathrooms are cool trust me. For drink I had the hot coco and it was one of the best I’ve had ever. #Veganuary

Just as fabulous as you all said - Edit
This is the second time my husband and I have come here. Everything is so delicious, and so fresh. They legit have the best vegan eggs I have ever tasted and they are not just made from oil. Their fried egg comes from the loving hut and it is soy for the whites and carrots and something else for the yolk and it has the perfect consistency and great flavor. We also tried two desserts and this amazing tea with forged herbs that comes from Big Sur. everything you seen in the pictures is vegan except for the cheese on my husband‘s burger because he is not vegan. They do have a vegan cheese to use instead.

Absolutely amazing - Edit
To start, everything is vegan by default and you have the option to substitute egg or dairy cheese. The vegan egg is great, like nothing I’ve ever had before. The french toast was also amazing. Breakfast was so good that we came back for dinner. We got the roasted artichoke, fried mushroom sampler, and a pizza. Everything was fantastic. We also got the dubai cake for dessert, which was good but a little dry.

Love the pizza - Edit
I have visited Julia's twice now and have gone with the Vegan Rita pizza both times. Doesn't disappoint, but last year when I visited there was definitely more salt on the crust that seemed to be mostly absent this time round. The server was telling the table next to us that all the food is vegan as the "base" but there are two vegetarian substitutions which are "real" eggs in the breakfast dishes and dairy mozzarella on the pizzas. Think I may try the curry and a dessert the next time I am in the area.

Delicious - Edit
Inventive and delicious vegetarian food. Many things are vegan and gluten-free. Very mushroom heavy with wild mushrooms. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. I got an iced tea and one of the specials, potato flautas. It was delicious, and came with salad on top.

A second chance - Edit
-UPDATE-
Read moreJulia’s expressed concern over my family's previous experience, acknowledging it as an unusual occurrence. The restaurant issued a sincere written and verbal apology, along with full compensation for the unsatisfactory meal.
Welcomed back with enthusiasm, we were eager to give this local favorite another chance.
We started with the fried mushroom appetizer, a family favorite. The mushrooms were perfectly battered and golden-brown.
For our main course, we chose a smokehouse pizza with vegan cheese and potato flautas. The pizza was phenomenal—the dough was airy and soft, yet crispy on the bottom, and the toppings were expertly placed.
The potato flautas were equally delicious, with well-seasoned potato filling and perfectly fried tortillas.
We concluded our meal with a slice of strawberry cream cake, which disappeared almost instantly due to its deliciousness.
Overall, I'm very pleased with our decision to return to this local gem. We truly appreciate the restaurant's accountability and their warm welcome.
—previous review below—
Our family was eager to dine at Julia's, hoping to find a safe and enjoyable vegetarian meal. Unfortunately, our experience was far from positive.
The service was inconsistent and, at times, downright rude. We were initially served a meager portion of water and had to repeatedly flag down waitstaff for refills. Our server seemed annoyed by our simple water order.
The most shocking incident occurred when a waitress abruptly scolded us for using our phones at the table, even though a nearby table was doing the same. Her rude tone and public shaming were both embarrassing and unnecessary.
While the fried mushrooms were a highlight, the desserts were disappointing. Given the overall poor service and disrespectful treatment, we won't be returning to Julia's.

AMAZING food, especially for mushroom lovers! - Edit
A mushroom lover’s paradise, aka my paradise! Julia’s is a vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options. They focus on a farm-to-table concept, which I just love. Of course, I had to try the mushroom sampler, which included fried lion’s mane, cordyceps, and baby blue oyster mushrooms. Just delicious 🥲 I could have had just a sampler for a meal!
Read moreI had the cordycep brunch bowl because I wanted to try their vegan egg. I was shocked because it tasted exactly like how I remember eggs tasting 🤯 My brother had their candy cap French toast, which was super delicious with the walnuts.
The next time I’m in the Pacific Grove and Monterey area, I want to come back to have more mushrooms and try their vegan pizza!
I ordered:
- Mushroom sampler
- Cordyceps brunch bowl
- Candy cap French toast
