Bucking the trend here to say this place is fine. Good, not amazing. Maybe the hype ruined it or maybe it was the cold falafel pita plate.
Read moreStarted with the garlic knots which I’d probably kill for. The tomato soup was good too. So when the main arrived and the falafel balls were hard and cold and the pita bread was cold and tough, it was ruined. Partner got the extra special avocado toast and that was tasty so I was glad she shared.
Had to ask to have our table wiped, ok, but also the meals came far apart and there was a christian element to the decor that turned me off. All in all, good not great. I’d probably go back for a triple order of the the garlic knots and try a different menu item.

Haven’t had a decent pizza since I went vegan and this tasted like one of the best I’ve ever had (vegan or not). I’ll dream of this place for years to come.

Read moreI got the Margherita Sourdough Pocket and it was amazing! One of the best vegan menu items I’ve had. The seasonal soup that came with it was really good as well. The cafe is really cute with indoor and outdoor seating options. I’d love to try the other menu items.

The cashier/waitress was overwhelmed
Consistency of the bread with humid was variable.
Won't get pizza again since more like flatbread with topics. Didn't like the BBQ flavor even though I got the classic pizza.
The salad was fine, I liked their pockets.

The food presentation & taste was pretty good! It didn't feel like a balanced meal--maybe that's why, despite liking it, we didn't go back for a repeat visit. But we don't regret going & would recommend! Leave room for soft serve from next door.

Journey Cafe has a plentiful menu - pasta, salads, soup, pizza and more. The ingredients are fresh and any herbs or spices they use in each dish make a flavor party in your mouth. The beverages are refreshing, too. My husband loves the Mac & Cheese, while my favorite is the Rainbow Pita. The staff are friendly, helpful and always welcoming. Outdoor seating is next to an herb garden! Help the staff and bus your dishes and trash to the stand by the door. And don’t forget dessert . . . Sweet Journey is next door (part of Journey Cafe)!

My family and I went here for lunch while on vacation. The food is excellent. We the Avo and the Living Harvest. It comes with soup or hummus and bread. Everything was delicious.

Read moreThe pancake was a “healthy” choice but it doesn’t feel like you’re missing out, it was extremely tasty. We could chose between a side of home made hummus or tomato bisque and both were absolutely fantastic.
The staff is extremely sweet and they even serve killer vegan ice cream next door. Will absolutely come back, when on big island! 🥰

Absolutely delicious food. One point ambience, super friendly staff. Seriously, we’ve been visiting the Island for two weeks and we’ve been all over. Hilo and back. This is hands down the best food we’ve e had here and honestly comes really close to the best food we’ve ever had. The journey salad was SO good, I’m contemplating ordering another for dinner AND coming back tomorrow. The kids loved the Mac and Cheese and the pizza (with modifications to make it more kid friendly). Only down side is it closes at 4pm. Highly recommend.

We started off with the garlic knots which were just okay but everything else was delicious. We ordered the breakfast toast, rainbow pita and the Mac n Cheese. It was all very delicious. Even our picky kiddo thought it was yummy.

We really enjoyed our lunch, but not the parking. As usual anything downtown it’s tough to get reasonable parking. I would try behind sams hideaway.
Read moreNow on to lunch. We loved the pizza, interesting and yummy flavor, not super big. We added to our order some of the garlic knots and they were piping hot and tasty. We also received some toast and amazing hummus. Would definitely come back!!

My partner and I ordered their pizza and it was honestly the best vegan pizza I ever had. The jackfruit was amazing on the pizza. Highly recommend. The only thing is the pizza was really expensive for the size.

For the price, eclectic menu, and location, I wasn't expecting too much. But everything we tried was really tasty. Even things that are very easy to make just decent (bbq jackfruit) exceeded expectations.
