Pizza, pitas, ice cream, brownies, etc., all vegan. Naturally gluten free options marked, and some other things can be made gluten free on request. Food was outstanding. Each entree comes with toast and tomato soup or hummus. Portion sizes are quite big. Ordering the bruschetta appetizer is unnecessary because it’s basically the same as the free toast.

Best food in Kona, dare I say on the island, dare I say the entire U.S. Seriously, this place is so amazing. It’s a bit pricey, but you get a lot of food. They give you hummus or tomato soup (sooo good) with each entree, and the entree portions are huge. Great drinks too. I didn’t try their soft serve but it looked amazing.

Really great vegan food. All of the food seems natural and it is delicious, would highly recommend. I had the Mauna Kea pasta and it was so tasty. The garlic knotts and the tropical pancake are also very good.

Our food here was so, so tasty. And the soft-serve is incredible. Reminiscent of Dairy Queen but better. Really was the cherry on top to a delicious lunch.

I thought it was almost impossible to eat vegan while I was in Hawaii for three weeks. This place is wonderful and the staff is too! We had the mac and cheese, artisan pocket (made to order), knots, strawberry salad, pizza, and limeades and everything was perfect.

Checked out our room. Wanted a nice vegan breakfast before our flight. Stop at one location and if you’ve been here you know the location beside a salad, avocado toast and a veggie scrambled was the only options. Could side by the water. That wasn’t going to do it for us. About a block down the street was Journey—-SAFE!!HOMERUN. went there again. Again Not disappointed

Read moreI got the Margherita Sourdough Pocket and it was amazing! One of the best vegan menu items I’ve had. The seasonal soup that came with it was really good as well. The cafe is really cute with indoor and outdoor seating options. I’d love to try the other menu items.

The cashier/waitress was overwhelmed
Consistency of the bread with humid was variable.
Won't get pizza again since more like flatbread with topics. Didn't like the BBQ flavor even though I got the classic pizza.
The salad was fine, I liked their pockets.

The food presentation & taste was pretty good! It didn't feel like a balanced meal--maybe that's why, despite liking it, we didn't go back for a repeat visit. But we don't regret going & would recommend! Leave room for soft serve from next door.

Journey Cafe has a plentiful menu - pasta, salads, soup, pizza and more. The ingredients are fresh and any herbs or spices they use in each dish make a flavor party in your mouth. The beverages are refreshing, too. My husband loves the Mac & Cheese, while my favorite is the Rainbow Pita. The staff are friendly, helpful and always welcoming. Outdoor seating is next to an herb garden! Help the staff and bus your dishes and trash to the stand by the door. And don’t forget dessert . . . Sweet Journey is next door (part of Journey Cafe)!

My family and I went here for lunch while on vacation. The food is excellent. We the Avo and the Living Harvest. It comes with soup or hummus and bread. Everything was delicious.

Read moreThe pancake was a “healthy” choice but it doesn’t feel like you’re missing out, it was extremely tasty. We could chose between a side of home made hummus or tomato bisque and both were absolutely fantastic.
The staff is extremely sweet and they even serve killer vegan ice cream next door. Will absolutely come back, when on big island! 🥰

Absolutely delicious food. One point ambience, super friendly staff. Seriously, we’ve been visiting the Island for two weeks and we’ve been all over. Hilo and back. This is hands down the best food we’ve e had here and honestly comes really close to the best food we’ve ever had. The journey salad was SO good, I’m contemplating ordering another for dinner AND coming back tomorrow. The kids loved the Mac and Cheese and the pizza (with modifications to make it more kid friendly). Only down side is it closes at 4pm. Highly recommend.
