Tacos Were Good Not Great

As far as vegan tacos go they are pretty good, nothing special but have gone multiple times due to consistency and great service!

Pros: Food , Service

Great vegan options!

Each time at Johns Tex Mex has been a pleasant experience, and I am always excited to try something new! The staff was very helpful and understanding, and informed me that almost anything can be made vegan. They have 2 vegan protein options as well as vegan cheese and vegan specials every once in awhile.

I have gotten a different item off the menu each time, and haven't been disappointed yet! One of my favorites so far is their Mexican Plate- it was basically loaded nachos. It was an extra cost to add vegan cheese, but you can swap the cheese for guac for no extra cost if you prefer.

Can't wait to go back!

Pros: Almost anything can be made vegan upon request , Fun vibes, Helpful staff

Best to go on a Monday

Johns Tex Mex offers tofu and unbeef as vegan options on most of their menu items. How ever Mknday is probably the best day to go since that is the only day they offer their vegan queso (so good!) along with another vegan special. Get there early though cause the specials tend to sell out quick!

Great food, great prices, great service

This is consistently a great go-to spot when you're looking for great food at great prices. All of the staff I have ever encountered here are also incredibly friendly whether I was either sitting in for dinner and a drink or just doing a quick pick-up for take out out. While there are plenty of great vegan options, I highly recommend the vegan empanadas (Mondays only)! Their new space, just down the street from the old, is absolutely beautiful- adorned with very eye catching wall paintings and art and offers much more space.

Pros: Vegan specials; serves alcohol-best margaritas!, Great food, prices, and service, Fairly large off-street parking lot

Flavorful and filling

I had the unbeef (it’s made of TVP) burrito and it was phenomenal. Lots of flavor and spice. Also recommend their hot apple cider with a shot of whiskey. There’s something for everyone here.

Pros: Lots of options, Tasty , Not too expensive

Yummy

We were passing through on our way to Canada. Glad we stopped by. Nice wait staff. Generous portions. And flavorful food. The veggie empanadas were great!
I had the burrito bowl which was delicious. I recommend the tomatillo sauce!

Don't have any expectations

This place is super cute! The decor and vibe is very fun, bright and festive. The wait staff wasn't the friendliest but our food came out in a very timely fashion. I ordered the Fresca tacos with tofu and my husband ordered a tofu burrito. Overall we would give this establishment a 2.5 out of 5. Nothing about the food said Mexican to us. The tofu was delicious but had no resemblance to any Mexican food. It was on the spicy side (with warning, mind you) Luckily we both like a little spice in our meals. Other than that the food was bland. The red onions in my husbands burrito were massive and took up most of the burrito (which he eventually just pulled out)
Overall we would probably not dine here again. I do love trying new places and dining in new spaces so I am happy we stopped.

Pros: cool vibe, vegan options

Cons: bland food, small menu

Really enjoy coming here

It's a great place to go especially when you have a mixed party - there really is something for everyone. And every single item on the menu is vegan unless it specifically states otherwise (or is a no brainer), no hidden dairy products. They occasionally have specials, loved the buffalo tofu they had but the tofu and "un-beef" that they have is very good too. Overall great selection, really friendly staff, and a great place to go.

Update: they now have a completely separate vegan menu, and also offer vegan queso and vegan specials every monday! The queso is standard on mondays but the specials rotate every week, check their social media on Sunday/Mon or call for the current special.

Good Mexican Food

This is a small restaurant that actually has many vegan and vegetarian options because they can customize most of their food to make it vegan. Everything I order tasted good.

Favorite Mexican-style place in town

We go here a lot, either to sit down or to take out. I always eat way too much here--the portions are big, so watch out! Like if you're deciding between 2 or 3 tacos, 2 is probably enough. The two mock-meat vegan fillings are great, but the un-beef really shines. I usually get tacos or a taco bowl. A great place for some great vegan grub! The prices are very reasonable, and the menu is really a la carte, so you can order tacos one at a time, or sides as you see fit. It is a small space, so on busy nights you'll likely have to wait for a table, and there's no real good place to stand and wait.

Pros: Fast and friendly service, Lots of vegan options, Great prices

Cons: Small space/limited seating

Vegan mexican, but all pretty meh

Super friendly and helpful staff, but the food is just meh. I've gotten quite a few things off their menu and while they were all fine, they weren't very impressive.

Always Good

John's Tex Mex is one of our favorite places to get take-out since, 1: it's fairly small inside & usually hopping (a sure sign of a good restaurant), and 2: it's always good. My husband always gets a vegan burrito (giant!) and I always get the tacos with ground "un-beef." Oh, and we especially love their mashed plantains/potatoes side dish. The place has cool decor and a good vibe so we will sit inside if we go on an off time, or out on the patio when the weather is nice. Good choices for veggies & vegans alike.

Pros: yum, fairly priced, friendly service

Cons: fairly small inside

Great Tex Mex at a reasonable price

I would give this a 5 but Happy Cow only allows a 4 since they serve meat as well as the Veg options. My husband and I have eaten at John's multiple times and every time it has been great. Their entire menu can be made Vegan (the burritos are awesome!) and they offer tofu or
"un"beef along with your choice of veggies and guacamole. It's a small place and can get a little busy/crowded. Also has outdoor seating. We usually call ahead and get it to go. They are great about take out orders too.

Pros: Great food, Can make anything on the menu Vegan, Reasonable prices

Cons: can be a little slow, not in the best area
