Unassuming, delicious, great value - Edit
A great find, not far from banking district and imperial palace. The buffet is 13 yuan, and has more options than a wise person couple possibly sample in one meal. Plenty of straight-up Chinese-style vegetable dishes, at least four styles of rice, soups, mock meats, breads, steamed buns, soy milk and barley tea. The sweet and sour soy-meat fed some pleasing nostalgia for the crispy-fried sweet and sour offerings of Australian Chinese restaurants, and everything we tried was tasty. Not so much crispy raw stuff, but all seemed the good quality fresh produce we've been pleased to find easily in Shenyang.
Read moreTwo floors of dining, so shouldn't be too hard to get a seat. Not crowded on a Wednesday lunchtime.
I believe it's Buddhist vegetarian, so should be vegan and without onion or garlic. I think the avoiding stimulants also explains the barley tea.
Pros: Great value, Delicious, Relaxed
Cons: Serious danger of over-eating :), Occasional patrons with noisy mobile phones
