Nice place - Edit
Compact little cafe with seating upstairs. Opted for the veggie breakfast minus the eggs. Forgot to ask for margarine not butter so ate it anyway rather than waste. Generous portion size for the money and staff were polite and friendly. Non-dairy milks available.

Tasty hot food and very heplful service - Edit
On a very cold, sleety out-of-season day, we found the staff here to be extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Although nothing vegan was clearly shown on the lunch menu, they offered us a range of things, and we had a tasty wrap with veg. and home-made pesto (evidently not containing parmesan) and cheesy ‘loaded’ chips. The oat-milk lattè was also very good. Like many places in Whitby, they are dog-friendly too.

Java’s Cocker - Edit
Part of the Whitby establishment for many years now, good place for a decent coffee. Vegan options are limited but with a modicum of understanding.

Very accomodating - Edit
No vegan options listed but if you ask they have options available and they had a vegan cinnamon bun, shame I couldn't fit it in.

Really welcoming and accommodating - Edit
Was in Whitby yesterday for a bit of a spontaneous trip, I used the app to find somewhere that catered for vegans. This is a lovely, friendly little café and the food was very nice! Asked for a veggie burger to be made vegan and they did that for me. Also vegan drink options with different milks, and a couple of cake options.

Vegan breakfast burritos - Edit
There was a vegan breakfast burrito clearly labelled on the blackboard. It was freshly made with tofu, grilled veg, avocado and vegan cheese and then toasted. Served with hash browns. We got them to takeaway and sat in the sun overlooking the harbour. We also couldn't resist the cinnamon buns. Everything was delicious. Highly recommended.

5 stars - Edit
Friendly and helpful staff, there were 4 vegan cake options when we went, cinnamon rolls were amazing so went back again! Also seem to be open later than any other coffee shop in Whitby that seems to close at 3pm in the winter.

Cosy place for a pick me up - Edit
Went to Java cafe I realised it was a nice and small cafe and welcoming and was met by friendly staff and ordered a latte but I got a flat white instead which I didn’t mind too much. Went upstairs where we were going to be sat and had the coffee brought up to us. When browsing the menu they had multiple vegetarian options available however no vegan options were shown on the menu, I had to ask the staff if they did vegan options, they only did 2 vegan options, the veggie burger and the panini roasted veg, mozzarella and basil pesto, I ordered the panini and I was blown away from how nice it was. The toilet facilities aren’t the best, one toilet doesn’t flush and one doesn’t stop flushing. The cafe is quite small so seating can be a bit difficult if it’s busy.

Cute little cafe - Edit
Lovely little cafe with an upstairs seating area giving you a nice view of the street. Very busy when I went, around 2pm. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff are very accommodating. Service is about normal speed.
Read moreWhen I visited this venue 2 vegan options were available for food, the roast vegetable panini and the veggie burger (both listed as vegetarian but can be made vegan). I had the veg panini and it was actually incredible!
For the quality and taste of food it is definitely worth the price.
Pros: Excellent food, Nice vibe , Friendly staff
Cons: Lack of vegan options

Fantastic breakfast - Edit
Had a chat with Java on Facebook messenger to confirm that they have vegan options. I went for the vegan full English which had a very good portion size.
