Love the veggie sandwich - Edit
We are always visiting Jaspers when in Keswick. Today I had a great sandwich with beetroot hummus and grilled veggies. Loved it!

Rude and disappointing - Edit
Came here because we were desperate, saw the happy cow sticker and came up on the app. Plenty of choice of food, staff were poor and rude, made mistakes and didn’t listen. I asked for a vegan sausage sandwich, it came with the house slaw which after my meal found out wasn’t vegan, the staff proceeded to gaslight me and weren’t sure until they asked the chef if the slaw was vegan or not. Luckily I didn’t eat it. Alternative milks were surcharged. No cake. Also I suspect there was butter on the sandwich.

Simple but good - Edit
Nice to find a decent vegan breakfast in the lakes. As others have mentioned, mine arrived with dairy butter for the toast, which they promptly swapped for dairy free when I asked. Smoothie was yummy.

Not great - Edit
The vegan breakfast came with a packet of dairy butter which is worrying. The sausages were also burnt to a crisp.
Read moreThey charge an 80p fee for oat/ soya milk l, which is a practice I haven't seen in a very long time.
There were no vegan cakes on offer
Pros: Location, Generous portion of avocado
Cons: Extra charges for milk alternatives, Vegan breakfast came with dairy, Lack of options

Don’t take allergies seriously - Edit
Ordered a vegan breakfast with no mushrooms and asked if they could check to see if the sausages have mushrooms in. The very young girl serving didn’t seem to understand the request and I had to ask 3 times. At one point she asked if I wanted a “normal sausage” instead. She asked the chef who shouted back “I have no idea, probably”. I asked if they could check the packet and she said no. So we decided to leave! Absolutely odd response to an allergy request.

Great Cake Selection - Edit
I’d been looking for vegan cake whilst in Keswick and Jaspers had 3 options - flapjack, Bakewell tart and ginger shortbread. I had the flapjack which was the best I’ve had and a very good portion too 😄

Good coffee, vegan cakes - Edit
Great to visit another cafe which caters for vegans in Keswick. I just popped in for coffee and cake, good to see a decent selection of treats, well marked and also delicious. The coffee was good and cherry Bakewell was nicely moist.

We really enjoyed the food we had here. Options were clearly marked and staff understood dietary needs.
Read moreWe had a cheese toasty - beautifully presented and quite fancy, tasted like Applewood cheese! And lentil chilli loaded fries. I would have liked more chilli but good size portion of fries and it tasted great.
High end coffee and tea as well!

Cons: Not a vegan or veggie establishment

Haven for hungry dog walkers - Edit
Chose this place based on a previous review which emphasised the dog-friendliness. It's certainly welcoming to people and dogs, lots of dog prints on the walls and a (canine) customer photo gallery. I suspect the cafe is named after the owner's dog, based on the staff photos on display!
Read moreI couldn't see masses of vegan choices on the menu, however I suspect some things could be made vegan upon request and I did enjoy the vegan breakfast.
None of the cakes were labelled vegan, however when I asked, several were (I had a Cherry Bakewell slice).
Pros: Vegan options , Dog friendly, Welcoming staff
Cons: Serves meat

Lovely dog friendly coffee stop - Edit
"Dog Friendly" may be the understatement of the year! This incredible little spot is a haven for all the cutest doggos around town! Add to that some delicious coffees and teas, and maybe a tasty treat or two (or three) and you have yourself a wonderful afternoon.

Better Than Nothing At All... - Edit
Average pricing.
Read moreLargely indifferent staff.
limited vegan choices. Didn't appear to be any vegan sweet choices.
Personally, it feels important that when I've ordered dietary requirements such as GF & Vegan, in a non-specialist eatery, that the server states the meal put before me on the table is in fact vegan & GF. We got none of that. We'd have followed our modest savoury light bite with coffee and cake, but the servers never came to ask us, nor to clear away the dishes (a pet hate of mine) so I'm unable to rate the coffee.
We will not be retuning.
A place for folk who really like dogs. On arriving we had to negotiate a pile of them just to get to a vacant table. Turned out the dogs are the proprietor's dogs. Music was too loud too.

Seemed like a fairly limited vegan range but we got oat milk coffees to go, and the cafe itself feels cosy and welcoming. Also very dog friendly.
