Our Chorizo Burritos Were Served Cold Again - Edit
We love this place...the staff, ambiance, appetizers, cocktails, and desserts are all terrific.
Read moreBut for the third visit in a row while dining in, the filling of our favorite entree--the Chorizo Burrito--was barely warm.
I have no idea why this keeps happening but after 3 times in a row I’m no longer willing to chalk it up to a one-off and hope it's something the management or staff can address moving forward.
Pros: Nice ambiance, Friendly staff, Delicious cocktails
Cons: Cold entree

This food wowed me! I had lower expectations for some reason, but the vibe was cozy and the food and alcoholic drinks were delightful. My partner got the Oaxacan Peach drink and I got the Prickly Pear one. We split the 3 dips (loved the guac and queso, and I don’t usually like vegan queso at most places) and the empanadas, which I also really loved. The bowl is flavorful and big; my partner and I split it. Saturday evening was completely booked and bar seating only so make a reservation if you can!

Tasty good and cute ambiance - Edit
Friendly service, tasty food and cocktails, and a cozy vibe. We had the beet and pumpkin empanadas, the tuna tostada, and chips and 3 different dips. The queso was a standout.

The worst enchiladas ever - Edit
[EN] I was counting on authentic Mexican cuisine in New York and I was disappointed. I ordered enchiladas mole and they did not have any taste. I could not taste the sauce, I could not taste the vegan chicken, and the rice did not have any flavor either. No seasoning at all. The same story with enchiladas verde, they were also tastless. Another weak point was the lack of veggies in enchiladas - only vegan meat, cheese, rice and some additional ingredients. The veggies could add at least a little flavor.
Read moreAlmost $20 for such a bland food - that is a bit excessive. There are better spots with Mexican food sure, I did not come across one like this - but one thing is for sure: you will not find it here.
Pros: Tastless food, expensive for such a bland food

Great Mexican flavors - Edit
The interior of this place is stunning. Every detail is curated and feels beautiful and stylish while remaining comfortable and relaxed. We ate the chorizo burrito and the huevos con papa for our brunch. It was overwhelming to choose from an all plant-based menu! There are many gluten-free plates as well.

Want to Like it More - Edit
Visited the Hudson Yards location in early June and ordered the nachos with guac, birria tacos, and sweet potato black bean tacos. Nachos were great but neither taco was anything special. Wanted to give them another try in a more sit down location so we came to the west village location. Ordered the nachos with guac and a chimichanga to split. The nachos were great here too. The chimichanga was lacking in flavor. Not sure we would return at this point, just maybe for nachos and drinks.

Everything you want! You can count on it! - Edit
Since reading that Mexican food is the most serotonin-boosting cuisine, I’ve been craving a good Mexican meal. Some friends were visiting from Iceland, where there’s no such thing as decent Mexican food. We used to go to a Tex-Mex spot that’s now closed and never found a replacement.
Read moreI’m vegan. My friends aren’t. I asked around: “Where can my friend get a good frozen margarita and Mexican food?” A few popular spots came up — you know the ones. But the menus? Not much for me. My boyfriend tried to help: “This one has a salad without chicken. Or grilled mushrooms?” (Blegch… mushrooms? Ew!)
I thought, I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks. I am NOT settling. I want to eat what I love.
I checked my usual Vegan NYC groups, but most options were too pricey. Then my boyfriend just googled and said, “How about JaJaJa???”
Don’t laugh — I thought JaJaJa was a fake virtual DoorDash kitchen. Never ordered from them. Turns out it’s a real, festive sit-down spot with outdoor seating and a bar/lounge downstairs.
We went May 3rd and the whole place was decked out in helium balloons for Cinco de Mayo. Total party vibe. They have a full bar — and mocktails! I don’t drink, and I rarely order mocktails, but seeing them on the menu made me feel seen.
I got the Enchiladas Mole. I almost went with the Suizas (carne, not pollo), but the waiter said those were spicy. I should say, the first bite of the Mole was like, “Whoa, spicy!” but it mellowed fast. I got used to it by bite two. (I used to handle spice. Now mayo is too spicy.)
The food was incredible — made by someone who knows how to deliver that rich, satisfying Mexican flavor. One suggestion: add a chili-pepper scale to the menu! The Mole would be 1 pepper, Suizas maybe 2–3.
I didn’t tell my friends it was vegan. One asked, “No chicken on the menu?” I said, “Pollo is chicken. It’s plant-based.” She shrugged. They all just found it delicious!
Also: I need pictures! I can’t visualize meals from text-only menus. Their website has pics of every item — super helpful and made me want to try more next time.
Only critique: the textiles lining the booth backs are scratchy. I kept trying to put my arm around my boyfriend and gave up. “Ouch… not happening.”
But seriously? That’s all I’d change. It’s nowhere near my apartment, but from now on, it’s JaJaJa or nothing.
Pros: Full bar with frozen drinks & mocktails!, Exactly the kind of food you're expecting!, Atmosphere is fantastic!
Cons: Could use a spiciness rating on menu., Booths could be a tad more comfortable., Literally no other cons. This place is inredible!

We had the empanadas, guacamole and two orders of tacos. You’ll definitely want to upsize to 3 unless you split another appetizer. Everything is really tasty but the portions are small.

Good Mexican food in NYC?! - Edit
Jajaja was so incredibly delicious! Their Birria Tamale was my favorite dish. It had so much flavor and was very spicy (which I love) I also really enjoyed their Grande Nachos with Guacamole. They were so yummy and they did NOT skimp on the toppings. I also got a side of rice and beans which were perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Will definitely be going back!!

I went to Jajaja by myself for lunch. When I entered, they wished me a happy birthday. Then they surprised me at the end of the meal by singing to me and giving me some cookies. That’s how you do it! The mole and almond horchata were delicious. Great vibe, food, and service team. #Veganuary
