We had the pleasure of dinning at Izakaya Kobachi twice now, during both lunch and dinner hours, and both experiences were wonderful from start to finish. Once informed that I was vegan, the Chef-Owner carefully explained which menu items were vegan, and outlined which ones could be modified with great attention to detail, for example, he explained that the broth used for the miso soup is vegan. The food turned out delicious, and the ingredients were very fresh. Our non-vegan dinning companions were also very happy with their meal, and enjoyed the vegan items they had tried. We're very happy to have stumbled upon this great spot where we can bring our vegan and non-vegan friends alike! Friendly atmosphere, minimalist and tasteful decor, as well as impeccable service from a welcoming and conscientious Chef-Owner, highly recommended!
The quality of the ingredients here is incredible, and chef Kane's ultimate priority is to give his guests a good time. He was very intentional about explaining which dishes do not have eggs and fish sauce. Ask for no mayo on some dishes. He gets his tofu from La Soyarie, made just a short drive away, and it is excellent with his sauce. The green onion gyoza was super crunchy and delicious, and the veggie maki was so flavourful. Get the inari sushi, it was so good. Everything was so delicious, even the brown rice tea!
