Don’t bother - Edit
$12 will get you a very mediocre bowl of vegan ramen with one floret of broccoli, 3 bamboo shoots, 3 pieces of tofu and some okay noodles. The “creamy broth” tasted like miso with salt, pepper, and soy milk. Girlfriend didn’t finish hers. 1 extra star for actually having a vegan option!

Vegan options? Doubt it. - Edit
I’ve been there twice. First time there my wife has an allergic reaction (she’s allergic to shellfish) after asking for vegan options, treated successfully with Benadryl thankfully. We go there again six months later, tell them vegan AND she’s allergic to shellfish/fish….guess what? She has ANOTHER allergic reaction requiring Benadryl. We’ve never had a problem with allergic reaction anywhere else…even sushi restaurants, when we’ve informed them of the allergy. Only here. Makes me suspect.

A scam - Edit
I have heard from inside source that many labeled vegan options are not actually vegan even if you ask for the vegan option, and that if they run out of veg broth for ramen they will substitute regular broth. I am just very uncomfortable by this information because I’ve eaten here many times.

not vegan - Edit
Wanted to eat here and asked if the items labeled vegan would in fact be dairy free and they told us some of the dishes will have dairy.

Fun friendly fresh fast and fabulous Ramen shop - Edit
Small well decorated restaurant with an extensive menu 50% are vegan options which are well marked in menu. Vegan items include gyoza, tempura, seaweed salad, zucchini sticks, fried tofu, Ramen, etc. Nice outdoor deck seating.

Super dinner! - Edit
Vegan options are clearly marked. Veggie gyoza, fried tofu, eggplant, garlic edamame, shishito peppers, even veganized pork buns (with tofu and eggplant). It's hard to find authentic Japanese places with solid vegan options because so many use fish sauce. We highly recommend this place and will be back! (Ignore the bad takeout reviews - tapas is meant to be eaten fresh). Thank you, Itto!

Great drinks and tapas! - Edit
**vegan on this menu does not mean vegan as is, it means the dish CAN BE made vegan**
Read moreCute and cozy with several vegan tapas. We tried the itto fried tofu, harumake, tempura onion rings, and they were all delicious 😋
The itto vegetable ramen was a little disappointing. The noodles were OK but had a very strong kale flavor. There were only 3 pieces of tofu, but the tofu was VERY good. The bowl was 90% noodle. I would suggest asking for extra tofu and/or veggies if you want to try this dish.

I don’t waste food and dumped this vegetarian ramen down the drain - Edit
Simply put, this was probably the worst takeout meal I’ve ever ordered. The broth smelled like it had gone bad and it had literally one broccoli floret for vegetables. $13 for gross broth and a bunch of noodles. I took a few bites and decided I couldn’t stomach it and threw the rest out. Won’t be back.

Pros: They had vegan options , Tofu was well seasoned

So disappointed - Edit
I visit Asheville quite regularly from Greenville, SC, simply because I love the vegan options, and it’s not a very far drive. I found this restaurant through Happy Cow, and after looking through the menu, I couldn’t wait to visit! The inari stuffed with seaweed and avocado was extremely messy, and I barely noticed the avocado. The avocado katsu sounded absolutely delicious, but it was just barely breaded and fried avocado. It desperately needed salt, or some sort of flavor. There was very little sauce. The tempura onion rings on the menu were listed as “vegan” with “chef’s special sauce”, but when they arrived, I recognized the sauce as a Mayo based sauce I was familiar with, and upon asking the server, it was, in fact, not vegan. The server brought a vegan sweet chili sauce instead, but it did not pair well with the onion rings, and I was still in shock why they would list something on the menu as vegan and serve it with a non-vegan sauce. The vegetable ramen came with kale noodles, which sounded great, but they were very bitter and not good. The other vegetables listed in the vegetable ramen simply weren’t there. The three pieces of tofu in the ramen were the best part of the meal. Other than that, there was one piece of standard raw broccoli, 4 shavings of radish, and a lot of corn, along with a few sprigs of arugula. $63 later, my partner and I were left with a lot of takeout that we later just threw out because no one was hungry enough to eat any of that again. I love to support a restaurant that is willing to offer vegan options, but this one just missed the mark, I’m sorry.

Poor service, poor handling of covid - Edit
We really wanted to like Itto. We were super excited to try this restaurant. We've actually been to Japan and are always looking for a good Ramen spot.
Read moreHere are a few of our concerns.
We would order multiple items at one time as we live 1.5hrs away. When they would bring our food out it would often be cold. We also noticed that after being repeat customers with large orders the quality of the food also went down.
One time we ordered 4 vegan ramens. We ate two that night and saved the other two for the next day. The vegan ramen broth in one container ended up being what appeared to be chicken stock. It congealed, appeared and smelled like chicken stock.
Itto has a small entrance where they have customers wait crammed together, NOT 6ft apart.
The first time we called in, we asked if they offered curbside pickup, which the staff replied yes.
So we placed an order, afterwards we were told they don't do curbside pickup and we'd have to come in.
This happened every time we ordered there until we stopped our patronage. We would call in, place an order and confirm curbside then be told they don't offer curbside pickup by another staff member. Clearly the policy was based on staff convenience rather than customer safety.
When we pay over $100 for an order several weeks in a row when there is a global pandemic, we don't expect to be treated this way when reasonably requesting curbside pickup.
Cons: Not concerned with customer safety with COVID-19

Surprising number of vegan options! - Edit
Open for dine in, and felt very safe. We came here expecting there to only be a few options, but in addition to the vegan ramen there were 14 vegan tapas options. The avocado katsu was so good, definitely get that, and the gyozas were yummy as well. Servers were very friendly and attentive and aware of which vegan dishes were good.

I ordered their vegan gyoza and vegan ramen (with the regular noodles instead of kale). The broth was delicious. There’s a lot more I wanted to order that sounded amazing but I can only eat so much. Definitely would come back

The vegetable ramen needs actual vegetables - Edit
A number of tapas are vegan and okay. But the vegetable ramen is super disappointing. The broth and noodles are tasty, but canned corn and 2 kinds of onions don't count as vegetables. If it had some real produce in it, it would be amazing.
