Beautiful

I stayed here for a couple of days for
my brother’s wedding. The wedding and the grounds were beautiful. You really get to feel close to nature and there is an overwhelming sense of calm and serenity throughout the property. Everyone is very kind and I believe most, if not all, of the staff are volunteers.

Meals are buffet style and served twice a day at set times. Most of it is Indian. I didn’t run into any nonvegan dishes personally, but was told they occasionally have dishes with milk.

There is pretty decent wifi.

Overall it was a very unique experience. Would recommend checking their website for more info.

Delicious and pranic veggie food

I only realized veggies can be that tasty after having a meal at Isha Institute of Inner-Sciences. Delicious and variety food offered daily twice at this place is really addictive. The food is not just tasty but pranic. Pranic food is something that gives positive energy to body.
Beautiful nature with water falls, bluffs, hiking trails etc. close to this place are even attractive to visit this place.

Pros: Pranic food, beautiful nature, Accommodation available, Loving and caring people

Cons: None

Isha is an oasis!

This is the American headquarters of Isha, an international organization that teaches meditation/mindfulness/yoga practices.

This site is a big campus that hosts various programs throughout the year, and they serve two meals a day at their dining hall. You don't need to be participating in a program to come eat here and check out the beautiful grounds.

Keep in mind that this isn't exactly a 'restaurant' - you'll be joining other Isha folks for a buffet-style meal in their dining hall.

If you're traveling through the area, this is by far your best option for veg-friendly food for many, many miles. And to top it off, the food is WONDERFUL! 100% vegetarian, mostly vegan. Dishes vary, though most are heavily influenced by Indian cuisine. A good combination of cooked/raw food. (If you've ever been to a Govinda's, it's along those lines - but even better food.)

The meals are served during specific times, which can vary from day-to-day depending on what programs are happening at Isha. So be sure to call ahead to confirm your plans.

Also there is no cell service around Isha (this whole area is pretty rural), so plan accordingly. They're on Central time - keep that in mind if you're coming from Chattanooga.

The food alone is worth a stop. But while you're there, definitely get a tour of the Isha grounds and grab some info about their introductory programs. It's a fabulous organization. They offer some really great courses that are accessible to all levels, are non-denominational, and are designed so that you can continue the practices on your own at home.
