Be creative

If you look beyond the four or five labeled items you can have a hearty good time. And a couple non alcoholic beverages.

3.5. stars rounded up

It's a very meat-forward menu. There are 3 entrees under the "vegetarian section", and the tofu tacos are the only thing on the whole menu marked vegan (even though a bunch of other things probably are). The tofu tacos were ok: the tofu was bland but the corn salsa and vegan aioli were tasty. But $18 for 3 tacos is a bit on the pricey side, and you'll definitely need to order something else to fill out the meal.

Pros: Tasty tacos, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Limited selection, Expensive

Go for the Drinks, not the Food.

The Iron Whale is trying to be high end, but its vegan options were anything but.

The menu features 5 options under the "vegetarian" section, 3 of which are de facto vegan: hummus + pita (app), vegan flatbread, and the tofu tacos. The impossible burger and the black bean burger could possibly be made vegan if the brioche bun were swapped out.

My wife and I ordered the shoshito peppers as an app (without the aioli) and the flatbread + tofu tacos for our mains. The flatbread had good vegan cheese but was otherwise bare bones, no toppings except for some arugala to the side. The tofu tacos were equally bland. They featured two slabs of lightly seasoned, uncooked tofu, with a light drizzle of sauce and some apple slaw with a corn tortilla. The corn tortilla was the strongest taste.

I enjoyed the drinks, though the vegan options are limited. They are pricey, about $15 for a cocktail, but I expected that. In comparison, however, the food wasn't on par, and it wasn't worth the price.

Additional trigger warnings: our menu was served with a big slab of leather on the front, and when the check came it was served with a menu/advertisement for their special "wild game" days with dead pheasant and boar.
