Sunday Rainbow Roast

We visited Duke Street Market on Sunday. Before covid I found the food market a bit too noisy and chaotic (although the food has always been great) Because of the restrictions in place you are now shown to a table by a member of staff (hand sanitizer and track and trace in operation) You order and pay for your food and drinks via an app and it is brought to your table. This service was smooth and efficient.

We had the Rainbow Roast Dinner from Indigo Greens. The cost was £14.95 and consisted of sweet potato and lentil nut roast, garlic lemon and thyme roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, marrowfat peas, cauliflower, tender stem broccoli, cumin glazed parsnip, carrot and turnip and gravy. I could not fault the food, it was all hot and delicious (although my partner said he could have done with a bit more, but he could have ordered extra roast potatoes for £4.50)

A really enjoyable experience with amazing food. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back....probably next Sunday :)

Pros: Imaginative menu, Great tasting, Vibrant Colours

Cons: Portion size (although it was ok for me)

Banana blossom fish 💚

Delicious! Had the vegan fish and chips and loved it. Served with mushy peas and curry sauce which were both great. I’ve had banana blossom ‘fish’ before and hadn’t been super keen, but Indigo Greens cook and flavour it so well it has completely reversed my opinion ☺️ can’t wait to try more of their menu! Food came so quickly too.

Lots of flavour

Despite the 25 minute wait I had on my food it was bursting with flavour which was great. Unfortunately the falafel didn't taste the nicest as it was a bit too dry for my liking. A bit pricey as well at £12.50 for a buddha bowl but nonetheless very tasty.

Pros: Good flavours

Cons: Expensive

Food made from scatch

Very tasty and good looking dishes. We loved the place. It was in a hall and it was surrounded by other food stalls. We had the English breakfast and the tofu sandwich and we loved them. The sandwich was our favorite.

Pros: Location , Price , Tasty

Great spot

We had a lovely full English with all the trimmings which I really enjoyed. They also offer a roast dinner on a Sunday and it’s a great spot to grab food and explore.

Pros: Vegan, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Small menu

Poor attitude

I visited the food market yesterday with a few members of my family. I ordered a gooey brownie from Indigo Greens and was appalled by the attitude of the guy who served me. When I ordered the brownie the guy said that he was currently making the peanut butter cream that came with the brownie but added he would add extra fruit...I assumed that the brownie would be served when the cream was made *crossed wires. When the brownie came, without the cream, I went to ask the guy where the cream was he said he had told me there was none *again crossed wires as previously stated. The brownie was for my disabled nephew who has trouble eating. The attitude of the guy was appalling and he started raising his voice saying he told me the cream was not ready, I told him I thought the brownie would be served when the cream was ready and asked him if he had anything else as the brownie looked quite dry he said he didn't and said I could either have the brownie or my money back, we kept the brownie. He then said 'see ya later' and turned his back on me. This is not the service that I would expect to receive anywhere..untold him he wouldn't see me later as I would not go back there.

Cons: Bad attitude of staff, Dry brownie

Sunday lunch on the hottest sunday of the year?

My goodness it was hot inside of the Market, not much of an air flow and the heat of the kitchens. I had a lot of sympathy for the workers. But as this was my first time in Liverpool for over 20 years I felt I had to try the sunday lunch from Indigo Greens. So was it worth battling sweat and stickiness? It certainly was. Some outstanding flavours from the Beetroot and Lentil Roast, combined with perfectly cooked veg and lovely gravy. A well thought out combination of flavours. Luckily there is tap water available on the tables to cool down with although I'm sure it was starting to evaporate. The other food coming out of the kitchen looked very nice as well. Find a table, remember the number order at your chosen kitchen. Not sure if there isn't an app to order as the kitchen put out more food than I saw people order.

Pros: Great combination of flavours in sunday lunch, lovely setting, Quick service

Cons: Very hot inside in warm weather

Amazing food in a cool setting

We had the sharing platter of smoked chipotle tofu, hummus, pesto, bread, spicy nuts, olives, salad and oil, and we also had the falafel which is the best falafel I have ever had! This place is in the duke street market which has another 5 eateries within it with shared dining space, so it was a nice casual spot for lunch. The flavours were unreal and the service was great.

Pros: Imaginative menu, Reasonably priced , Cool setting

Reallyyy tasty food

The only fully vegan restaurant inside Duke Street market. Me and my friend shared three courses buffalo cauliflower wings, banana blossom fish and chips and courhetti spaghetti 'ball' ognese and then a chocolate brownie for desert. Every course was delicious, presented beautifully and in a nice setting. Would reccomend to anyone

Best sandwich I've ever had

Tofu Lettuce Tomato with a delicious spicy sweet glaze and vegan mayo. I can't wait to have it again!

Duke St Market is an upmarket venue with various food stalls of different types. Get a table, order the food you want from any of the stalls and servers will bring it to you. Nice vibe, proper cutlery and really friendly staff.

A bit on the pricey side, especially for drinks. But much higher quality than most of these food market places I've been too, so that's OK.

Only downside was how small indigo greens menu was! Pleaaase add more than 3 items, it was so delicious!!

There are other vegan and vegetarian options available at other stalls, but this is the only exclusively plant based stall at the market.

Pros: Oh so delicious, Friendly staff

Cons: Menu too small (not enough options)
