Leckerer veganer Burger - Edit

A few veg options - Edit
Nice place beside the Luang Prabang Night market. They have a few veg options to choose from. Flavour is good. The atmosphere is nice as well, besides the main road and they have a lot of seating to choose from. A good place to relax and have a drink or food.

Alright for dinner - Edit
I came here twice to have dinner after shopping at the night market, but it was not my favourite restaurant. The food was ok, but could have been a little better. The atmosphere was not that welcoming, too - the staff were not that friendly, and moreover, some of the guests were under the influence of alcohol and were very loud. Of course, that is not the fault of the restaurant, and maybe the attitude of the staff was because of that.
Read moreI still liked the interior of the restaurant and that it is quite roomy. The location is very convenient, too.
I‘d still try this place again if I came back to Luang Prabang, because what I experienced might not be the standard situation at Indigo Café.
Pros: Great location, Nice interior
Cons: Intoxicated guests, Somewhat unwelcoming atmosphere

Delicious mojito - Edit
Nice little place with vegan options clearly highlighted. I had the spring rolls which were really good, I also had the sweet potato salad which was nice and quite a big portion. My husband had the beet burger which was nice and as above the mojitos were really good

Over priced for what it is - Edit
This place was very expensive and over all not worth a return visit.
Read moreI had the green matcha frappe with coconut milk, so was a good vegan option for drinks I guess. The fresh spring rolls were ok, but not worth the price.
Also got a greek salad with rye bread. The rye bread was terrible, it was very sweet, like a lot of bread is in the region. I just had one bite and left it. The greek salad was ok, but again not worth the price.
Over all we spent a lot of money here and left hungry.
Pros: understand veg and vegan
Cons: terrible value for the money, terrible sweet rye bread

Lovely beet burger, but not a 100% vegan meal, read review! - Edit
The beet burger is honestly incredible: stuffed with veggies on a deliciously soft bun. You get a very small side of very tasty chips as well as an odd, but tasty, slice of cucumber topped with mash potato.
Read moreThe issue here is with the dipping sauce they serve with the burger. The sauce is a homemade burger sauce which contains a mayonnaise, conformed by staff. So to anyone that visits please remember to ask for no mayonnaise when you order the burger and you'll instead get a small ramiken of ketchup!
Pros: Beet burger is delicious, Chips are crispy
Cons: A bit expensive, Mayonnaise with a clearly labelled vegan meal

Lovely Khao Soi - Edit
Really nice cafe on the Main Street. It’s really nice inside, lovely decor and coffee and a few decent vegan options. The Khao Soi was really good and had lots of tofu in and a big rice cake on the side so it was pretty filling and good value for money in Luang Prabang at 25k kip

Fewer vegan options - Edit
As mentioned before the vegan options on the menu are less now. The somewhat mushy beet burger is still available as well as noodles fried and as soup along with some starters/salads. Food is tasty but a bit pricey. Staff is friendly but quite slow and forgetful.

menu changed - Edit
Most plates are not in the menu anymore. We had the fresh spring roll (without egg) they are great, the beet root burger (the mayo is on the side in a cup) which was awesome, but the khao soi wasn’t tasty, lack of spices and tasted mostly like tomato sauce with noodles

Not really vegan food - Edit
The restaurant is in the main street. The staff is really nice and friendly. Food is good. Some items are noted as vegan or vegetarian on the menu. But i think they are very confused about veganism. Mayo in one vegan burger and the other is noted with cheese.

So confused - Edit
Long story short: they don't know what veganism means and even their dishes specified as 'vegan' aren't all actually vegan.
Read moreWent hIere to have dinner and got the menu from the waiter. When I asked him for the vegan options he gave me another menu where the vegan dishes where clearly marked.
I wanted to order the 'Red Beet Burger' but because it wasn't labeled vegan on the first menu I got I asked the waiter to be sure. He said the dish wasn't vegan because the bread has egg in it. I was confused because it says 'vegan'. I asked if all of their bread contained eggs and he confirmed that NONE of their bread was vegan. I pointed out a 'vegan' dish with bruschetta, he said that one was vegan. So confusing. I asked him if he could give me the burger with the bruschetta bread instead. After 10 minutes of discussing (him walking back and forth to the kitchen and calling his manager) he told me it's not possible.
The only dished left to choose from were salads and stirfried vegetables. This you can get in any other place for way better price.

Confused about veganism - Edit
We went for the roof terrace view and after seeing a photo of a separate vegan menu on TripAdvisor.
Read moreThis menu no longer exists, instead a handful of dishes are labelled as vegan - a salad and a mushroom stir-fry on the evening menu, and also a vegan bagel and vegan pizza on the early day menu. When we asked about a vegan menu the waiter pointed at vegetarian and fish based options. We played it safe, tried the vegan bagel but it was served with mayo. There was also a burger they said could be veganised but it came on a brioche bun with mayo on the side.
A bakery out front serves vegan banana bread muffins which are delicious.
Lovely location but a bit pricey and not great options, not a safe bet.
Pros: Great location, great view of night market
Cons: Don't know what vegan means

Excellent - Edit
Going by some of the heavily negative vegan reviews here over the past 2 years, I can only guess they've picked up their act a lot. I've been working out of his cafe for several days and have found the vegan options outstanding, and that the staff 'get' what I want vegan-wise. It's super central, has a nice ambience, and friendly staff. As for overpriced, it's US$4-6 a meal, which is inexpensive anywhere, unless you're a super-cheapskate who wants excellent food, service and ambience for the price of skanky street food. Would give 5 stars but Harumph Cow doesn't allow it.
