O-ventually Made It - Edit
Frankly, the fact that I have had this restaurant on my doorstep for months and never deigned to sample its wares is absurd. I can only apologise for my tardiness and promise it won’t happen again. In an effort to rectify my egregious ways, I summarily ordered a sizeable portion of the menu to provide as much insight as possible into the worthiness of their offerings.
Read moreHow did it fair? Well, let’s just say that my oversight in not dining here sooner was brought more sharply into focus when I started delving into the abundance of dishes that I had amassed, as perfectly crisp and craveable onion pakoras set the scene expertly for what was to follow. Hearty, flavoursome dal dhokli; equally satisfying dal khichadi; and texturally unique sabudana khichadi were a mere snippet of what was a fine showcase of Indian classics.
Even the creations whose origins hailed from the east of Asia were exceedingly well executed – and utterly delicious – a fact that is not always the case when East Asian establishments stray away from their speciality.
Yet, despite the wealth of excellence on display, I would be doing you a disservice if I said that it was of the same impeccable standard. By no means did anything offend or give me cause for serious complaint, but there were a couple of components that didn’t quite match up to their counterparts. The Punjabi samosas and channa chaat were fine, but they didn’t distinguish themselves as anything above the norm, while the poori – a perennial favourite of mine – was a little limp.
Overall, though similar foodstuffs can be procured for cheaper, the cost here was far from exorbitant, and, for the quality of what is on offer, it’s more than fair. Now I am fully aware of what lies but minutes away from my abode; I am sure it won’t be too long before I am back for more.
