One of the better dinner options in State College - Edit
Not many places in State College can claim the number of vegan options that India Pavilion has. What's more, they have a menu specifically listing everything vegan (or that can be made vegan) on request. I've attached a photo of this menu for reference.
Read moreNotably, every single menu item on the large "vegetarian" section of the menu is either vegan or can be made vegan, so you have quite a lot to choose from here.
On this visit, we had the daal tadka and the vegetable vindaloo - both great. The cold spiced tea was terrific.
They do a buffet for lunch. There are supposed to be *some* vegan options, but you never know what you're getting into with a buffet so I'd recommend sticking with the dinner menu here.

Excellent staff and food - Edit
I was informed about all the vegan options on the menu. I ordered the Chana Masala and it was excellent. It was also quite affordable. My wife and I both had dinner for $32 before tip. Definitely will eat there again.

Curryous about vegan options? - Edit
The lunch buffet is an ethical mess, so ask staff about the vegan entries and complain until the only animal products in sight are my hands on all the garlic naan.

No vegan buffet - Edit
If you are vegan don't get the buffet. Dairy in everything. Order off the menu and specify vegan/no dairy.

Lunch buffet had vegan options - Edit
There was a couple vegan options at the lunch buffet. Rice, onion pakora, tarka dal, and the sweet potato pudding. They were not marked as vegan but when I asked an employee he let me know. Everything tasted very good.

So yummy - Edit
Options at buffet are limited, but if you ask for the vegan menu when ordering from the kitchen, there are so many options! I love the aloo gobhi.

Always Delicious! - Edit
We’ve been eating there for a few years and I only realized about a year or so ago - that I could ask for them to make our food vegan! They tell us what menu items can be made that way (they’re very helpful) and we love trying the different dishes each time!!

Great Food! Would recommend! - Edit
You can ask for a special menu for people with food restrictions that is super helpful. It tells you what is vegan, what can be made vegan, and any allergen warnings you should be aware of in each dish.

Fantastic State College Indian food - Edit
My go to for Indian cuisine in SC. They treat you right, know how to cook, and are very friendly and accommodating to vegans and vegetarians.
Read moreI’m a consistent Chana Masala guy, and the portions are perfect for 2 meals (or 1.5 if you’re hungry) with some roti bread.
Atmosphere is very friendly. I’ve seen many large parties at IP so that’s good news for those looking for that. Otherwise, an intimate dinner, a lunch buffet meeting, or anything in between.
And for those who have never tried Indian food, or are scared of it, give the lunch buffet a shot. It’s only around $9 I believe and the selection is great. You may only have 2 or 3 veggie options on the buffet though, but out of 6, that’s pretty good odds :)
Pros: DELICIOUS!, Friendly staff

Best Indian food - Edit
I loved this restaurant even before I went vegan, and I still love it. My favorites have changed because of my diet, of course, but it's still wonderful. They have sort of a menu "guide" for dietary restrictions. You have to look back and forth between that and the full menu because there are no descriptions of the dishes on the vegan/gluten free menu. I was surprised at how many things are vegan, or what can be made vegan. Sadly, I can no longer get a mango lassi, but maybe one day they will have an alternative.

Better than Kaarma - Edit
I order their delicious Baingan Bhartha and the Poori bread. Some of their flatbreads can be made vegan. If you ask, they will tell you which ones.
