That's Mall Folks - Edit
Tucked away in the basement of one of Shanghai's many nondescript malls, my girlfriend found this place as it's round the corner from her office in IKEA. The food is all vegetarian with vegan options, items on the menu have pictures of a chicken or a cow to denote eggs and milk, it's a lovely restaurant with plenty of space and private dining rooms too. We had some dishes to share including the vegetable curry, sticky lotus root, peanuts, some tempura veg and some broccoli, it was all delicious and inexpensive. We also had some potato cakes which I really liked. It's become a regular lunch spot with my girlfriend and her colleagues.
Read moreThis place is still going and having been back a few times it's quite a lovely hidden gem. The spicy mushrooms in cumin are delicious and you can choose how spicy you want them. The sweet and sour lions mane mushrooms were also very good, the stir fried greens and the osmanthus flavoured lotus root is a must. There are many more dishes on the online menu that you access by scanning the QR code at your table, staff don't speak much English.
